1. Parents, remember to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
2. There is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 5th, to allow time for the General Election. Please remember to vote!
3. Also please remember that on Wed, Nov 6, Davis students will be attending Tuesday “specials.” All specials - PE, Art, Music, STEM, Band, and Orchestra will run their Tuesday schedule. Wednesday Morning Orchestra Practice will be for Beginning Orchestra Students. (4th grade Advanced Orchestra will not meet next week). If your child normally has a small group music lesson on Tuesday, it will be held on Wed. next week.

1. If your child did not have his/her picture taken in September, please prepare for them to be photographed on November 8th.

2. If you ordered pictures in September but are not satisfied with them, your child may return the photos you received (including the envelope; be sure to return digital packages and envelopes also) and have a new picture taken.

3. If you have not already placed an order, you may order pictures online at https://inter-state.com/order using Davis Order Code: 89622MF. There are also paper order forms in the school offices. To see your Order History, check your Inter-State Account.

4. Please send an email to your child's teacher alerting him/her that your child wants a retake.

3rd and 5th graders will take the CogAT test during the mornings of November 12th - 14th. Parents, please ensure your child has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast in preparation. Please click HERE for a more detailed letter.

Hi Davis Families! It is important to us at Davis Elementary that we provide a community of care and support to our families, especially when faced with financial hardship.

We want to make you aware of a number of supports that we have available through our school, intended specifically for parents who are of low-income or who are struggling financially.

The supports available include: the Northern Illinois Food Bank "Backpack Program," Thanksgiving Meal Support, and Holiday Support Programs. We are excited to share that your student has been actively engaging with the Railyard Obstacle Course during their P.E. class last week. This innovative system challenges students with fun, dynamic activities that develop essential athletic skills like balance, coordination, and agility. Through crawling, jumping, and climbing on elevated platforms, your child is improving their strength, spatial awareness, and body control—all while having a blast!

Day of the Dead is a special celebration on November 2 and 3 where we honor and remember our loved ones who have passed. 2nd Grade students and their families prepared unique dioramas that will be on display next week in the LRC.

A big thank you to everyone who helped with our Davis parade and parties! Our students had so much fun.

5th graders have been working hard to learn about the Constitution in both ELA and Social Studies. Students have discussed why the Constitution was written, the rights we are granted under the Constitution, and about all of the compromises that took place during the Third Continental Congress. This week, students were lucky enough to learn more from Judge Lark Cowart. During her visit, 5th graders learned more about the rights provided by the Constitution, and how they apply in her work as a judge in Kane County.

5th Grade students enjoyed a fall field trip with perfect weather this week! They explored nature, played games with friends, and had a lot of fun in the great outdoors!

On Friday October 25th 5th grade orchestra students had a concert with Thompson Middle School and they sounded great! They got to talk with current 6th graders about middle school and even got to tour the school.

In an effort to keep our medical information current and updated, we are requesting that the Health Surveys be completed, signed and returned to the Health Office by November 1st. This will assist us in giving your child the best care by knowing what concerns you may have. If there is something that needs more information, Leeanna or myself may reach out to you for a brief conversation. There are quite a few students for whom we have not received this form, so please send it to school as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for partnering with us. Please call with any questions.

Davis Student Council members worked to decorate the box to collect toys for the Big Hearts of Fox Valley Toy Drive. Davis will be collecting new & unwrapped toys the week of November 4th-8th. Please see flier below for more information.

All students, families, D303 staff members, and community members are invited to join us for the Compass Academy Open House and Student Showcase on Thursday, November 7th, from 4 to 7 PM. Enjoy delicious offerings from two fantastic food trucks: Sweet Sensations, serving delectable edible cookie dough and ice cream, and Tacomotora, featuring mouthwatering tacos, burrito bowls, and other Mexican street food favorites. The event will showcase students' work, and attendees can participate in a scavenger hunt and a raffle with some amazing prizes—entry to the raffle is free! This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in discovering what Compass Academy has to offer.
