Major's Minute
As officers, we're so blessed yet again to be with another congregation that helps take care of the corps and us as a family. We took the weekend to be present and help for my nephew's wedding and did not have to worry about a thing. You showed up, lead Sunday service and every detail that goes with that - you took care of our home and our dog! We thank God for the fellowship of believers who enjoy ministering to everyone! - Major Shoshannah Ruwethin
Continue to pray for Alex Sandoval. If you would like to bring a card or letter of encouragement on Sunday we can send them to him on your behalf.
**Next Potluck September 10. Remember, the church will provide a main dish and desert. If you can bring other entrees, side dishes, and drinks we'd appreciate it. HOWEVER, regardless if need the most.**
Office closed September 1 & September 4
Thank you God for ministry moments ...

New Wednesday Programming this Fall - Starting September 6
In the past two years, we've enjoyed starting up Sunday potlucks, monthly women and teen nights, music programs, Thursday dinner and Bible studies and even opened up a food pantry that will make it's year mark in September.
It's been a blur, but God continues to orchestrate people at the right time. We're hopeful to reach more families and build relationships in the community through more youth programming starting this Fall. We ask that you help us pray for a good outcome as we bring back Wednesday SAY (Salvation Army Youth) Club!!
Please spread the word! Starting up September 6.

The Social Justice Women's Group
The Salvation Army, USA Western Territory
Office of the Territorial President, Women’s Ministries
Greetings Friends,
Please see invitation email to women salvationists in our territory with an interest in Social Justice from Colonel Wendy Swan, Director – International Social Justice Commission. If you are interested, please fill out the application as soon as possible. -
Dear Leaders,
I write in collaboration with the Senior UN Representative, Major Victoria Edmonds with an invitation for women from your territory to participate in an initiative from the International Social Justice Commission – the SOCIAL JUSTICE WOMEN’S GROUP.
The group came out of the Commission on the Status of Women and the desire to hear from the grassroots their voices on social justice issues that are being addressed at the United Nations. This will give women the opportunity to have their ideas and voices heard at the global table.
This group includes uniformed Salvationist women who have an interest in Social Justice issues and have some knowledge of the Untied Nation Sustainable Developmental Goals. Women must be willing to commit one year to this group and be willing to attend a monthly meeting virtually on the third Thursday of each month 8:00 am NYC time.
The goal of this group (maximum of 25 women) is to:
- Give a voice to the issues on the table of the UN from a grassroots perspective.
- Share with other women in local Corps or Divisions the plights of women in the 21st Century.
- Give voice and ideas to the International Social Justice Commission on the Committees that we attend and sit on.
Being in this group may give opportunity (if visas allow to) attend the Commission on the Status of Women held in New York in March 2024. This the group commences in September. Please click on the link to apply: https://forms.gle/a8SxpkjLqGGjqSem7
As applications are received the ISJC will connect with territories.
Thank you for your support on behalf of women giving their voices to Social Justice issues.

Life Line Screening
There is a simple, convenient way for you to get preventive health screenings and learn your risk for stroke, heart disease and other chronic conditions.
These painless screenings go beyond your regular checkup to identify dangerous plaque buildup or blockage, a major risk factor for stroke and heart disease. The screenings are accurate, affordable and will give you valuable information about your health that you can share with your doctor.
We are pleased to host Life Line Screening, who will be on site on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Salvation Army Citadel of Santa Clara to conduct these valuable screenings.
These 4 vital screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. Register by calling toll free 1-844-591-7160, text the word "circle" to 216-279-1607 or online at https://llsa.social/HC
