Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have recently registered close to 75 students who will be kindergartners next academic year. If you have any children who are or will be 5 years old before or on September 15, 2021, please call the school to get registration information. We are looking to register all of the students who live in our attendance area first before we accept any other students who transfer. We would like to inform all parents of the final decision before we leave for summer break.

This month, our students will take the ISASP. These are State Assessments the measure the students' knowledge of math, literacy, writing, and science. Please talk to your child about the importance of doing their very best. We encourage the students to show how much they know. We want to make sure that all the work the teachers and students have done, can be reflected in how well they do on these assessments.

Another thing we want you to know is that we will have Summer School at Irving this summer. We have invited some students to attend. We have sent invitations two times and we have not received many sheets back where you notify us that you are interested in sending your child. Please call the office if you want your child to attend summer school so we can check our list of students who have been invited.

We are looking forward to getting to see the middle schools. The 5th-grade students are excited and nervous about attending a different school. Most of our students have been with us since kindergarten. That is 6 years. It is the most time they will ever spend in a school building. We will miss them.

We have seen students bring food items from home such as pop. We do not allow pop in our schools, so please do not send any pop or sugary drinks. We appreciate your help with this.

This periodic table was created by two classroom in 5th grade. They selected an inspiring person from the African American/Black community, they researched about that individual, then they wrote an essay which they recorded on Nearpod. We are very proud of them!

Winter Weather Information

With cold weather upon us, it’s important to plan for inclement weather. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the colder weather. Suggested apparel includes a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves. If a student needs access to these cold weather apparel items, please contact the school office.

Even during the winter season, the District allows recess and outdoor activities to continue as usual. However, if a student does not have appropriate winter clothing, a school official may ask a student to remain inside.

When the atmosphere reaches a temperature that feels like 15 degrees or less, then all students are kept inside for recess/activities. The “feel” of the temperature is determined based on the National Weather Service’s report.

Información del Clima Invernal

Con el clima frío sobre nosotros, es importante planificar las inclemencias del tiempo. Asegúrese de que su hijo esté vestido apropiadamente para el clima más frío. La ropa sugerida incluye un abrigo cálido, gorro, bufanda y guantes. Si un estudiante necesita alguno de estos artículos de ropa para el clima frío, comuníquese con la oficina de la escuela.
