Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we step into September, our school is buzzing with excitement, energy and the promise of a great year. This month our focus will be on strong foundations. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to explore their potential. Our teacher have been and will continue to prepare engaging lessons that will challenge and inspire your children.
I would like to emphasize the importance of community and partnership. Your involvement is crucial to your child's success, and we look forward to working closely with you throughout the year. Whether through volunteering, or simply staying connected with us, your participation helps create a vibrant school community. Please consider joining out PTO today. See below for more information.

Supporting Your Child's Emotional Well-Being During
the Start of the School Year
The beginning of the school year is an exciting time, but it can also bring about a range of emotions for children. Transitioning back to school, adjusting to new routines, meeting new teachers, and navigating new friends can be overwhelming. Here are five tips to help support your child's mental health and emotional well-being as they navigate the first few months of school.
1. Acknowledge and Validate Their Feelings
It's normal for children to experience a mix of emotions during the start of a new school year. Whether they feel excited, anxious, or a bit of both, it's important to listen to them and acknowledge their feelings. Let them know it's okay to feel nervous or worried, and that you're there to support them.
2. Establish a Consistent Routine
A consistent routine can provide children with a sense of security and predictability. Establish regular times for waking up, meals, homework, and bedtime. A predictable routine helps reduce anxiety and makes the transition back to school smoother.
3. Encourage Open Communication
Create an environment where your child feels comfortable talking about their day. Ask open-ended questions like, "What was the best part of your day?" or "Is there anything that made you feel worried today?" This encourages them to share their experiences and feelings, giving you insight into their emotional state.
4. Focus on Positive Reinforcement
Celebrate small successes and milestones, whether it's making a new friend, completing a homework assignment, or simply getting through the school day. Positive reinforcement boosts your child's confidence and helps them feel more secure in their new environment.
5. Monitor for Signs of Stress or Anxiety
While some anxiety is normal, it's important to be aware of signs that your child may be struggling more than usual. These can include changes in sleep patterns, appetite, mood swings, or reluctance to go to school. If you notice any concerning signs, consider reaching out to me for resources!
Be sure to maintain open lines of communication with your child's teacher and school staff. They can provide valuable insights into how your child is adjusting and may offer additional resources or support if needed. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns for how your student is adjusting back to school this year! We can work together to have Marshall continue to be a positive experience for each student.
Thank you,
Kylie Wright
