Parents/Guardians wanted for MRHS School Council
We look to build a strong school advisory council this year to guide our important work. A school council is a representative, school building-based committee that meets quarterly and is composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members, and students. School councils are to assist principals in:
- Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
- Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
- Reviewing the annual school building budget
- Formulating a school improvement plan
- Review the student handbook
If you are interested please send an email message to principal Jennifer Police at jpolice@monomoy.edu indicating your interest in serving on the school council.
Monomoy Regional High School students to host debate for state Senate candidates
The students of Monomoy Regional High School’s Political Action Club, a nonpartisan group, is once again hosting a forum with the candidates for election to the Massachusetts State Senate for the Cape and Islands District, Sen. Julian Cyr and Christopher Lauzon. The event will be organized by the student members of the club – the candidates will answer questions from a panel of students overseen by a student moderator. All other aspects of the debate will also be run by Monomoy students, including timing, lighting, and sound operations. The candidates forum will be held Thursday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Monomoy Regional High School Auditorium (75 Oak Street, Harwich). The public and the press are welcome to attend this event.
Visiting Pleasant Bay
Many grateful thanks go to Paul Niles and the Friends of Pleasant Bay! The Friends kindly granted funds to Monomoy Regional High School so the following clubs/class could visit the Bay this week to write, photograph, and sketch: Sandscript (our creative writing club), Advanced Photography, and the National Art Honor Society. The students' work will create a beautiful booklet, also covered by funds from The Friends, that will be placed in school and town libraries in the Pleasant Bay area, as well as town halls. Thank you Friends!
SHORE Food Pantry
Bags of groceries available on Fridays
The Diversity Club, with the help of donations from the community, Stop and Shop, and Google . Org Teen Mental Health Initiative, can distribute individual bags of food on Fridays. They are handed out at the end of the day and are available to anyone who needs them. Pick up in the Main Office lobby as you are heading out to your bus!
Outer Cape Health Services Navigator School-Based Service Site
MRHS has joined with Outer Cape Health Services to offer additional support to our school community. This new project aims to increase access to community supports and clinical services for students and their families. The service will provide onsite access to OCHS navigator services and tele-behavioral and telemedicine appointments. The school-based OCHS Navigator will work alongside school personnel to help students and families to access locally-based services and resources. The Navigator program will support students in connecting to the resources that they need to improve health, wellness, and academic engagement. Navigators will provide customized case management services, ensuring that students and families are connected to the supports that they need. To learn more, click here or speak to the school's nurses or counselors.

Monomoy Interns at Work
"What I like the most about my internship at Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod is truly how big of a learning environment it is. In the past several weeks, I have been able to do so many different tasks, such as administering vaccines and drawing blood. I have also had the opportunity to sit in on several surgeries and ultrasounds. It is truly an amazing internship, and every day I get to do something new and test the skills I have learned." -Ashley Anderson
