Welcome Back from our Administrators
Welcome to the new school year! We are so excited to see our Hawks back in the building!
The 24-25 school year marks the first cohort of students who have had the opportunity to be at Hopewell Kindergarten through 5th grade! This is an exciting milestone for Hopewell. We have been fortunate to establish an awesome school community with the support and help of our parents, students and staff. We appreciate all you do and your partnership with the school.
Our theme this year is 'Soaring to New Heights'. Why, may you ask? We have truly come full circle and have accomplished so much in building our culture and community at Hopewell. Our families and community have contributed to those accomplishments. Now, it is time to go even further in our success. With the collaboration of staff, families and students, this is the year to 'Soar to New Heights'!
For our new families, we can’t wait to meet you and welcome your Hawk to Hopewell!
Please be sure to review the newsletter closely as there is a lot of important information pertaining to back-to-school activities and procedures.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out 816-359-4410.

Class Placements
As a reminder, every family must complete online verification and residency before your child will receive a classroom teacher assignment. This process is quick and necessary to verify your student’s information, as well as make any updates to emergency contacts. For those that have completed online verification your student's classroom placement will be emailed to you on Monday, August 12th.
If you have not provided proof of residency, your child’s classroom placement will not be able to be emailed to you at that time. Please contact the Hopewell office at 816-359-4410 as soon as possible if you need assistance.
First Day
*School Starts on Monday, August 19th, 2024
*Students may enter the building at 8:50am
Back to School Information
Arrival
- Students may arrive at 8:50 am. Students may not enter earlier unless attending a before school club, because there is not adult supervision until 8:50 am.
- As soon as busses and car riders arrive at 8:50 am, they may go straight to their classroom or stop at the cafeteria for breakfast.
- Breakfast is served from 8:50 to 9:10 am.
- Instruction begins at 9:10 am.
- Students arriving after 9:10 am are considered tardy.
Dismissal
- We begin dismissal at 3:55 pm to allow for student travel time within the building for our 4:10 pm dismissal. For example, car rider students walk to the cafeteria for dismissal, and Adventure Club to the gym.
- Please remember the first several days of school dismissal will take longer. We double-check all bus rosters and placards for car riders.
- IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CAR RIDER PLACARD, YOU WILL NEED TO PARK AND COME INTO THE OFFICE TO CHECK OUT YOUR CHILD FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY REASONS. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US KEEP OUR HAWKS SAFE!
Car Riders
- During back-to-school night, please visit the cafeteria and sign up for a car rider placard and number. This is how we safely identify you as an authorized person to pick up your student.
- Whoever is picking up the child should have this placard to ensure the safety of our children.
- As you arrive in the morning, there will be one car line with staff members assisting students exiting from cars. Please wait for a staff member to help your student before they get out of the car to ensure the safety of all students.
- At dismissal, there will be a double lane of cars to help expedite pick-up.
Bus Riders
- Bus information will be available in the parent portal.
- You may contact First Student at 816-359-4560
- Families can use the First View App to track their child's bus route.
- Kindergarten students must be met at the bus stop by a parent when dropped off.
- Staff help students safely arrive and leave the building.
Change of Transportation
Please have any change of transportation called into the office no later than 3:00 pm. This is to help ensure accurate communication in a timely manner. (816)359-4410 School Office

PTA Clothing Center
The Park Hill School District PTA runs a clothing center that provides free, gently used clothing, plus new socks and underwear to district students. Please visit our Facebook page or the PTA Clothing Center website for updated information.
The PTA Clothing Center serves all Park Hill School District students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The PTA asks you to bring proof that you are currently enrolled in the Park Hill district. This could be a student ID, dated letter from a principal or social worker, class schedule, or enrollment form. You can also show us the district portal with student information in it.
Donations are welcome at the Clothing Center anytime, year-round. There is a blue bin in front of the garage of the clothing center, which is at 8009 N Atkins, just south of the Gerner Family Early Education Center. Please make sure your donations are clean, in good condition and bagged in kitchen-sized bags that the volunteers can lift.

PBIS
Soaring to Success
We believe it is our job to teach our children expectations just like we would teach the curriculum. Through Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we have developed a framework that sets clear and consistent language throughout the building.
Each week, a Hawk from each class is recognized for being an outstanding Hawk and Soaring to Success! They receive a certificate and get their picture on a bulletin board in our main hall.

Birthday Treats
Birthday Favors
Approved Birthday Favors:
Students may bring a birthday treat or favor to school to share with their classmates, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the eight (8) major allergens - milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish, and shellfish.
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.
Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).
