Ortega’s Oration
Dear Bryan High Community,
The halfway mark of the 2022-2023 academic year is here! It is important all students at Bryan High finish this first semester strong and successfully complete all classes. Below are five ways you can support your student in finishing this semester strong:
1. Obtain access to the parent portal to review your student’s grades, missing assignments, attendance, etc.
2. Reach out to your student’s school counselor in person or via email to review credits and ensure your student is on track to graduate.
3. Ask your student about his/her grades and if they are attending academic tutoring on Tuesday/Thursday for all students and Senior Saturdays for seniors only.
4. Express high expectations and standards for your student’s learning.
5. Ensure your student attends school every single day and on time.
Engaged parents are a key factor in helping students and schools succeed. Thank you for participating in decisions that affect your student’s education and future. We appreciate your support in ensuring all our students attend school daily and are safe, respectful, and responsible.

Go Bears!

Important Calendar Dates
12/19-1/3: No School for Students, Winter Recess
Student Absences on Scheduled School Days
Parents and guardians, as you plan your winter and spring vacations, please know:
When you inform the school that your student will be out of town on scheduled school days, it eliminates the safety concerns of your student's absences but does not excuse the missed academic and social participation time. Therefore, each day of missed instructional time is counted as an unexcused absence.
Questions or concerns, please reach out to Dr. Herbert, School Support Liaison, at 531-299-7463 or willie.herbert@ops.org
Academies in Action: Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution Academy
Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution Academy students recently visited the Omaha facility of CLAAS, a global manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

During this extended learning opportunity, students gained insight into CLAAS, which produces a wide variety of technologically innovative combines, forage harvesters, tractors, balers and hay tools for business-minded agriculture professionals.

Students also got to meet and collaborate with another school partner, Lozier, when representatives worked with students to put together the Bryan High Warehouse shelving. Experience turns dreams to realities—Go Bears!
