This has been a wonderful start to the school year. Thank you all for your flexibility during the Administrative transition we have had.

Each newsletter we will be choosing a department to put the "Spotlight" on. This weeks spotlight is our Art Department, Amanda Paolucci and Talia Ryan. Art at Heim is a crucial role in fostering creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking among students. It encourages them to explore their emotions, collaborate with peers, and develop a unique perspective on the world around them. Our art teachers, Amanda and Talia, are truly exceptional at doing this. They inspire students to push their boundaries, providing a nurturing environment where each individual feels valued and empowered to experiment with their artistic voice. We're so lucky to have both of them at HMS.

Our Art department has been hard at work. Some tasks they have been working with students to complete are self portraits, postcards, playing cards, Suminigashi which is a Japanese paper marbling technique

Unity week we will give each student a leaf and ask them to write a positive word, phrase, or quote that represents what unity means to them. We will also be having a spirit week, more information will follow.

Please consider filling out our Digital Resource Survey located in WITS so we can share the information with the New York State Education Department.

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we conduct regular safety drills. This month, we will be carrying out our two lockdown drills. These drills are a key part of our safety procedures and help everyone be prepared in case of an emergency.

Congratulations to the following 7th and 8th grade Band and Orchestra Musicians who have been selected to perform in a Junior High Area All State ensemble. Our students will perform at Akron High School on November 2nd. Heim Middle is very proud of you!

Intramurals: students recreationally compete against their peers in the Heim Middle Gym.

Before School Session: 8:00 AM-8:45 AM

After School Session: 3:45-4:30 PM

You are responsible for your child’s transportation.

The schedule for all intramurals this year will be posted on the Heim Middle Club Calendar located on the WITS Homepage or at this link. Please only send your child for the appropriate sessions based on grade level/activity. Please note when it says “choice,” we will offer a variety of sports and the students will vote on which activity we will do.

For your child to be able to participate, please click this link to fill out the permission slip. It is valid for the whole school year. If you have multiple children at Heim Middle, please fill one out for each student.
