Stowe's Sticky Notes
Thank you so much for supporting our school throughout our PTA Fun Run fundraiser. This year we have raised more than $89,000 for improvements throughout our campus. Students had a great time on Friday spraying me with Silly String at each recess and then turning me into a Toilet Paper Mummy.
For smashing our stretch goal all students will receive a bonus prize that PTA is ordering this week and will be delivered at a later date. We are also leaving our donations page open through Oct 31 for any late donations or corporate matches. Students and classes can still earn prizes for any of these donations.
This week we will be visited on Tuesday by a DEA helicopter (weather permitting) for Red Ribbon week. Our students have loved this event in the past, so we are excited for its return.
On Wednesday we will have picture retakes (bring any purchased photo packages back if you are retaking) and class photos.
Thursday is Halloween and we will be wearing Fall or Halloween shirts/outfits. No costumes are permitted on 10/31.
Next week we will have a student holiday on Tuesday, Nov 5 for election day as several MISD campuses are polling locations. If you haven't voted early, you have a few more days available along with election day. Early voting continues through Friday, November 1st. Vote early at one of the 10 early voting locations in the county.
Find all your Prop A information and a list of voting locations on our website: Go.misd.org/propA
Be prepared to wait in line even for early voting!

Nurse's Notes
It's that time of year again! Strep throat is going around so please keep a close eye on your kiddos. Strep throat is a disease that causes a sore throat. It is an infection with a germ called group A streptococcus bacteria. Common symptoms with strep throat can include but not limited to:
-sore throat

Symptoms may appear 2 to 5 days after coming in contact with the strep germ. The following tips may help your sore throat feel better:

-gargle with salt water
-throat lozenges (age appropriate)
- cool mist vaporizer or humidifier
-over the counter pain medications
-change your toothbrush
Contact your provider if you or your child develops symptoms of strep throat.
Stay Well!

Arrival and Dismissal Notes
Do NOT park in a handicap space for any amount of time unless you have a handicap sticker. We have families that need to use these spaces.
If you are parking and not using the car rider line, you must walk your children into the vestibule. Students can only be dropped off on the car rider line.
If you arrive after 8:15am, you will need to park in the parking lot and escort your children inside for a tardy pass. Students may not be dropped off at the curb.
Transportation changes can be made through PikMyKid up until 2pm each day. Click on the calendar to update your dismissal method. It's always a good idea to let the teacher know via email/dojo/bloomz just in case.
The last time to check out a student early is 3:00pm. If you have an emergency, please contact the front office.
School ends each day 3:40pm and dismissal begins at that time. Please keep these times and the time it takes to dismiss all students in mind as you register students for extra-curricular activities.
At dismissal, if you need to buckle a child into a seat for car rider, after your child is safely in the car, please pull forward into a visitor parking spot so that you can safely buckle in your child and keep our line moving.
Updated Snack Procedures from Child Nutrition
The MISD Child Nutrition department has updated the number and grade spans for snacks to be consistent across all MISD Elementary campuses. This means that technically Kindergarten students could purchase an ice cream every day. In the past we had limited lower grades to just one day per week.
If you need to place a restriction on your child's lunch account so that they aren't charging a snack (or two!) every day, please reach out to our cafeteria manager, Erica Cedillo, at erica.cedillo@misd.org.
