NHS Saber Puff Game
Souhegan's National Honor Society successfully hosted the very first Saber Puff Game on November 7th! This reversed flag football game of girls playing and boys cheering was ELECTRIC! The teams were Seniors and Sophomores (Pink Panthers) vs. Juniors and Freshmen (Purple Grimace). The Seniors (sophomores didn't come to play) won 20-14!
All proceeds raised support The Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at the Elliot Hospital. This non-profit organization gives financial assistance to the Elliot Health System to fight against breast cancer and address healthcare needs right here in southern New Hampshire.
The purpose of the game was to allow students to collaborate across games, unify the school, and encourage students to break down the stereotypes of gender roles. While also highlighting the importance of girls playing flag football to help raise money for The Solinsky Center for Cancer Care because 1 in 8 women will develop Breast Cancer.
Here are a few testimonies about the success of the event:
- “I would totally join the cheer team, we were so good!” - Dallen Noorda (Cheerleader - 2025)
- "I felt an immense amount of pride knowing that I am a part of a student body that will try new things and support each other during those new events." - Emma Linton (NHS member - 2025)
- "If I am being honest, I thought this event was the best one of the year so far. I love how organized and well put together-it was. You could tell how hard everyone worked. I think parents, staff, and students enjoyed every aspect." - Kelli Bailey-Lazarte (Administrative Assistant to Principal • Souhegan High School)
- "I do think it was a big success for the first time - I was happy to see everyone taking it seriously and playing kindly with each other. Everyone had positive behavior and great sportsmanship. Well done!" -Galen Tremblay (Data & Budget Analyst • Souhegan High School)
Veterans Day Assembly
On Friday, November 8, Souhegan High School had the honor of hosting an assembly to recognize and celebrate our veterans, active service members, and their families. We are deeply grateful for your sacrifices and your unwavering commitment to our country. A special thank you to the Souhegan community for coming together to make this ceremony so meaningful and to our talented student readers, as well as the Souhegan band and chorus, for adding their voices and music to this special tribute. What is your role at Souhegan?
Library Assistant, Info Center
How long have you been with Souhegan?
About 3 months!
What do you love about your job?
I love being around the Souhegan students, teachers and staff. Everyone has been so amazing and supportive while I learn the ropes here in the Info Center. I enjoy sharing my love for reading, being creative and helping out with anything that is needed.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I can be found supporting my boys in their extracurricular activities. When I am not doing that, I enjoy traveling with my family, exploring new places together and creating lots of fun memories. I also like to cook, read and spend time with family & friends and I am always up for a good game of trivia!
If you were given one wish what would it be?
Its so difficult to narrow down to one wish! I wish we could all be kinder not only to others, but also to ourselves.
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
One of my favorite quotes: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." - Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
