MSVMA Regional Honors Choir
On October 12th, four Wayland Middle School Choir Students sang at the MSVMA Regional Honors Choir Concert at West Middle School in Byron Center. These students are (L to R)
Madeline Curtis, Grace Dietz and Elaina Thomas. In order to sing in the Regional Honors Choir, the students prepared a video of themselves singing a memorized piece to submit to judges. Elaina Thomas advanced to the State Honors Choir, where she will be singing on January 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at DeVos Hall. This concert is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased up until the performance. They may be purchased online after December 1 at michiganmusicconference.org, or in the lobby of the DeVos Place the day of the concert.
Versa Tiles
Students in Mrs. Licari's class are using Versa Tiles as a hands on RTI tool to support students in mathematics. Here are a few students working on how to identify fractions in third grade.
Mock Election
AP Government classes organized a mock general election for the high school on Tuesday, 11/5.
Students had the opportunity to vote for President/VP, US Senator, 4th District Rep & 43rd District State Representative. AP Government students made the ballots, promoted voting on the student news, designed "I voted" stickers and worked the mock precinct to simulate an actual election for their peers.
Coat Donation
On November 6th, Knights of Columbus donated new coats to Pine Street Elementary!
Ferris State University
WHS juniors and seniors attended the last campus visit of the season to Ferris State University. Students enjoyed an admissions presentation, walking tour of campus, and ate lunch at The Rock Cafe. It was a beautiful day for our last campus visit!
Patriotic Emojis
Mrs. Boutni’s Level 2 classroom at Pine Street is preparing for the Veteran’s Day assembly on Monday, November 11th by discussing the qualities of our veterans and displaying colorful patriotic emojis for decor in the hallway.
Leadership Day
On Friday, November 8th, Student Council members from Pine Street, the middle school, and high school all got together for a Leadership Day. Our high schoolers shared tips on leadership, team building, and ways to help improve their schools. Such an educational day!
