Panther Prowl Fundraiser
BAMS PTA will be sending home flyers for the Panther Prowl with students on Wednesday and Thursday. Ask your student for the flyer, or check out the school website's Panther Prowl page for all of the details.
What is the Panther Prowl?
- It's a donation drive: Students will create a personalized pledge page and collect donations using our secure online platform at https://bit.ly/prowl24. Donations collected by October 15 count toward some great student prizes, such as a class donut party, entry into a drawing to win Beats Studio Pro headphones, gift cards, and more. The PTA will use all money raised to benefit our school, funding field trips and other fun student experiences, purchasing a planner for each student, 8th grade celebrations, and more.
- It's also a fun school spirit day: At the Panther Prowl Walk on Oct. 17 (rain date Oct. 25), students will walk by grade level around the grounds of BAMS and finish at the BAHS stadium for a brief pep rally. Watch for communication from your student's teachers on dressing in your team's theme for the walk.
From The Counseling Office
Last week letters were mailed out to parents/guardians introducing Naviance Student, a Web-based service designed especially for students and parents. Naviance Student is a comprehensive website that you and your child can use to help in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Each letter includes directions on how to register an account using a personal registration code. If any questions, please contact the counseling office.
Parents Needing Conferences
So you want to schedule a conference with your child's teacher or team?
Parents wishing to conference with teachers should reach out to teachers by email or phone to schedule a time to conference. Parents wishing to meet with an entire team should reach out to one teacher and indicate that they would like to meet as a group so that a time may be arranged.
Conferences may be scheduled throughout the year and it is not necessary to wait until after report cards or progress reports to schedule. Conferences may be arranged virtually or in-person during the normal school day.
For those parents with schedules who do not afford them to meet during the school day, Quarterly after hours conferences are available virtually. The first of these dates is October 10 from 4-6 pm Please contact your child's teacher to arrange a time.
BAMS Turkey Trot Shirts Available.
BAMS Turkey Trot shirts are available in support of a local breast cancer organization. A portion of each shirt purchased will be donated to Mary’s Army. This fundraiser is open to our Bel Air Middle School community. Both shirts are moisture wicking material. Shirts are $20 and can be purchased on School Cash Online. Shirts can be ordered until October 10th.
BAMS Family Engagement Night
From Our Health Suite
Hearing and Vision testing is happening at BAMS on 10/8. Please have your student bring their glasses to school on October 8th. All 8th graders and any student new to HCPS will be screened. A letter will be sent home if your student does not pass the screening.
With the fall weather upon us and more indoor activities, now is a great time to get your flu shot and Covid booster. Reach out to your pediatrician or the Harford County Health Department for information about upcoming Flu Shot Clinics.
