Fourth Grade Wins Best Attendance Award for September
Congratulations to our 4th grade students! They had the best attendance for the month of September with 93% of student missing less than 10% of school (2.5 days of school). The whole grade will receive an extra special something next week to celebrate! #riseuptowiseup
Did you know that if your student misses 2 days or more each month of school, they are considered chronically absent by the Michigan Department of Education!?!
Good evening BES families,
We hope this newsletter finds you ready for the weekend! Due to the power outage, we have rescheduled our Title I Parent Meeting at 4:15 to Tuesday, October 8th. This is open to any elementary family who wants to know more about our Title I program. Even if your student(s) do not receive title services you are welcome to come and gift cards will be randomly awarded to select participants.
Mrs. Howard, our district nurse, has included her Nurse's Note below. She gives updates on illnesses seen in her office, important information regarding upcoming events and all things health related. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank those that made Mrs. Howard's position accessible through grant funds. We are so grateful for her expertise, calm demeanor, MERT team leadership and how loved our students feel when around her. We are blessed to call her our nurse!
Congratulations to our five student council members! This group of outgoing fifth graders have already met and generated some great idea for future projects. Thank you to all who applied for a student council position and created some amazing campaign posters (see below)! Mrs. Rye and I are very excited to work with this group throughout the upcoming year.
Have a restful and relaxing weekend!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Johnson

⭐CHILD SAFE KITS⭐
Attention Parents/Guardians,
Byron Elementary is now offering Child Safe Kits for your family, through American Income Life.
We encourage each family to review the flyer, fill out and return the reply section to their classroom in order to participate.
This kit is endorsed by the International Union of Police Associations and designed to be prepared in the case of a child going lost or missing. The kit is known to save law enforcement 90 minutes when it is filled out.
You will be receiving a flyer in your child’s take-home folder next week. If you are interested in receiving this kit, you can Click Here
or return the flyer when you receive it. Please make sure to return this by Monday 10/7.
The kit has a place for your child’s personal information, photo, physical description, and fingerprints. This is something you will keep.
The classroom with the highest participation will also receive a pizza party!
If you choose to fill out the flyer and request the kit, a representative from American Income will contact you to deliver the kit.
For any questions, you can reach out to the AIL PR Representative. Jamie Beuschel at 616-275-2978.
Congrats to 5th Student Council Members! Great job by all who ran for office!
