Titans' Times
Week-at-a-Glance (WAAG) for December 2-6, 2024
Advent – A Time of Waiting
Advent begins on Sunday!
Now the waiting has begun. We welcome the beginning of another liturgical year, which begins with the First Sunday of Advent on December 1st. The four weeks of Advent are a time of waiting and preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth over 2000 years ago. We are also reminded that we are awaiting the Second Coming of Christ at the end of time. At mass, we hear the priest say: “We wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.” And so, let us work diligently and faithfully at preparing our students for Advent and Christmas and for the everlasting life to come.
On Monday morning we will gather as a school community to celebrate the beginning of Advent as a community with a liturgy and then the class Advent wreaths will be placed on the classroom prayer tables.
Blessings for an wonderful Advent season,
Mrs. Kleparchuk, Principal
Mrs. Crowston, Vice Principal

Division Assurance Survey 2024
Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools values your opinion. As part of our Assurance process, we ask that you share your perspective through our Division Assurance Survey at the link or QR below. Results from this survey will be used to inform planning and make decisions at both the school and divisional level for the 2025/2026 school year.
All parents and staff, as well as students in grades 4-9, will be given the opportunity to complete the survey. Surveys are completely anonymous.
Families with children at more than one GSACRD school are asked to complete a survey for each site.
The survey will remain open to Friday, December 20, 2024.
Please note: If you have a child in grade 4, 7, or 10, you may receive a similar survey from Alberta Education at a later date. If so, we would encourage you to complete both surveys.
We thank you in advance for sharing your feedback; your time is appreciated.

Grade 6 Bake Sale (Tuesday-Friday) Dec. 3-6
We are excited to announce that our Grade 6 students will be hosting a bake sale this week to help raise funds for their upcoming Grade 6 retreat at Cam Nakamun this Spring!
The students have been working hard to plan their menus, develop business strategies, and even come up with a creative team name. This bake sale is a fantastic opportunity for them to take ownership of the fundraising process while building valuable entrepreneurial skills. Through this project, they are developing creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the enthusiasm they’ve shown in making this event a success. Please join us in supporting them by participating in the bake sale and encouraging their hard work!
(all menu items are between $1-3 and below are the items being sold each day)
Christmas Affirmations
Christmas brings peace and joy to my heart,
A time to be kind, to do my part.
It’s not the presents or cookies I bake,
It’s the love and memories that I make!
Affirmations are positive statements that we can say to ourselves to help contradict the negative thoughts we may have. As joyous as the Christmas season is, it can also be stressful - activities happening at unusual times, obligations to events, the pressure of gifting, managing different family dynamics, and so much more! When we experience a lot of stress, it is easy for our minds to create negative statements, thoughts, and feelings - which is not necessarily what we want to be feeling around this festive holiday season. These stressors and negative thoughts are not what Christmas is all about. By practicing affirmations this Christmas season, we can focus on Christmas's true meaning and those we hold near and dear to our hearts.
Every day leading up to Christmas, we are sharing an affirmation with your child about the holiday season, that you use at home:
Monday - No matter the way the season unfolds, I cherish the love that this time holds.
Tuesday - With kindness, smiles, and love to share, I’ll spread good feelings everywhere!
Wednesday - Christmas brings peace and joy to my heart, a time to be kind and to do my part!
Thursday - Like snowflakes that sparkle and shine, I’m unique, and that’s just fine.
Friday - Christmas is fun, I’m full of cheer, the best time of the year is finally here!

Advent Wreath Blessing
Short Blessing for a Wreath
Lord God, your Church joyfully awaits
the coming of its Savior,
who enlightens our hearts and
dispels the darkness of ignorance and sin.
Pour forth your blessings upon us
as we light the candles of this wreath;
May their light reflect the splendor of Christ,
who is Lord, for ever and ever. Amen.
Feeding The Hungry
Continuing with the Corporal Works of Mercy, on Thursday the junior high religion students’ ‘mercy in action’ project focused on feeding the hungry. With donations from families we were able to put together over 140 sandwiches which will be delivered to Sacred Heart Parish in Edmonton who serves those living in hunger and are unhoused. The sandwiches were delivered to Fr. Sausi of Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples, he was very appreciative of this gesture. He mentioned that these sandwiches would be delivered as part of the Care-A-Van Catholic Social Seevices Welcome Home program, meeting the urgent needs of Edmonton's unhoused population in underserved outer-city areas. The Care-A-Van delivers essential items such as food, water, and clothing with compassion and love. What a wonderful way to show acts of mercy to the unhoused and feed the hungry.
