Credits Towards Graduation
Credit Recovery FuelEd Courses
What: Eugene 4j school district is offering Credit Recovery (CR) courses through an online program called FuelEd. Credit Recovery means you need to have attempted the course prior to enrolling in a Credit Recover Version. FuelEd Credit Recovery classes will NOT replace previous grades on the transcripts. Students will earn a P for completion of a CR. If they do not complete their credit recovery class, a NP will be recorded on their transcript. For students wanting to improve GPA and see themselves going to a 4 year university, the credit recovery class may not be the best option. See below for courses offered.
Students may take up to 1.0 credit, with .5 credit increments completed sequentially. Simultaneous coursework will require approval from the Eugene Education Options administrator, and will only be allowed for students who have demonstrated an ability to successfully complete online coursework.
When: Students will start coursework on July 8 and must complete all courses by August 8, 2024. Attendance is required for some part of the morning window of 9:00-12:00, Monday-Thursday.
Where: Students are expected to work in person at South Eugene High School but they can also work on it at home.
How: If you are interested in this opportunity please contact your counselor before the start of Summer Break or Rhiannon Boettcher at boettcher_r@4j.lane.edu after break begins.
4j Summer Intensive Courses
Dates of the various courses:
JULY 8th, 2024 – AUGUST 22nd, 2024
The 4J Summer Intensive Program will provide opportunities for students to extend their learning into the summer months led by outstanding 4J licensed educators. Course offerings reflect the curiosities and passions of both students and teachers. Courses will be held, onsite at all four high schools depending on the teacher and facility. See below for a list of dates, locations and course descriptions. Students may register for any course, regardless of their home high school.
Students are limited to enrollment to one course to ensure there is enough space for all those interested. The district will make an announcement directly to families and on the district page in late June about any courses opening for a second enrollment.
BYU Independent Study Courses
If you're in need of credits and the other options will not work for you, you might want to consider BYU Independent Study courses. BYU Independent Study offers online courses with options that enable students to bridge gaps in their coursework, make progress, and even accelerate graduation. These courses are accepted by SEHS. It is the responsibility of the family to purchased and managed these courses. Once the course is completed a student can report the course to our registrar.
They also have Credit Recovery Course Options specifically intended for students who have previously attempted and failed the corresponding course. These courses are each .50 credit and cost $99.
Tuition Free Summer Courses at LCC
LCC is offering free tuition (fees are your responsibility) over the summer to the Class of 2024 and 2025 students. Complete registration for this opportunity can be found on this LCC Site.

Summer Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) at The University of Oregon
The Summer Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) programs are FREE one-week summer programs hosted on the University of Oregon campus, where high school students learn about various subjects from distinguished University of Oregon faculty members through fun social and interactive activities. SAIL offers Day and Residential Programs.
Information about the program and the application (usually opens in April) can be found here: SAIL Program. Students who complete all of the activities will earn .5 OS/Elective credit and this would be a great Senior Experience CRLE activity.
Outside of 4j School District Courses
Students can take courses outside of the 4j School District system. We accept credits from online providers like BYU Independent Study and universities, like the University of Oregon.
Something to know about online courses provided by outside agencies. The courses are not typically aligned with our SEHS curriculum and somethings even if you do well in the course, you might not be fully prepared to do your best in the next course sequence.
Do you want to return to SEHS or EOA in the Fall?
Are you a Class of 2024 senior and just discovered that you did not earn enough credits for your Oregon High School Diploma and want to return to SEHS in the fall?
We can offer you in person SEHS courses or online courses to finish up your credits. You can stay as long, or as short, as you need. To get re-enrolled please contact our registrar, Melinda Shull at shull@4j.lane.edu.
