Let me begin by thanking everyone for a fantastic first month of school. Last week, more students attended the PTA-sponsored Get Air event than last year. As a principal, seeing our students having fun together was heartwarming. We also had our Fall Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to the many parents who volunteered at the Book Fair so that students had opportunities to buy books.

PLATINUM PBIS RECOGNITION

On Friday afternoon, Dr. Gomez notified us that Eagle Canyon earned our second Platinum recognition for implementing the PBIS framework. This is an amazing honor as Eagle Canyon is the only elementary school in the Ayala Feeder to have earned Platinum for two consecutive years. It takes our whole community to work together to help our students succeed. Thank you for working with the teachers and staff to support our students.

9/11 RALLY

It is time to begin preparations for Eagle Canyon's annual tribute to 9/11. We look forward to remembering all those who lost their lives saving others on 9/11 at the 9/11 Rally. It is also a time for us to honor our local heroes who serve as first responders. If you have a family member or know someone who is a police officer, firefighter, doctor, nurse, or paramedic, please invite them to attend our 9/11 Rally scheduled on Wednesday, September 11, at 8:15 a.m. Encourage first responders to arrive early to complete the information we need for the rally.

Use the QR code to order the new Eagle Canyon spirit wear. The window to order is open through Friday, September 13, 2024.

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mrs. Jenkins to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We met the 96.5% goal almost every day with an average of 97.62%. Let's continue to make attendance a priority.

Traffic before school and after school can be heavy. Please plan to leave your house early to avoid the rush.

BUS GATE/EAGLE CANYON DRIVE

This is a loading/unloading zone only. Please do not park where there is a yellow curb. You could be at risk of receiving a ticket from a San Bernardino Sheriff's Deputy.

PARKING LOT

Students are not allowed to walk in the parking lot without an adult. Please do not ask them or an older sibling to walk to your car. You must accompany them to ensure their safety.

Please drive in the parking lot with caution. When people are distracted while driving, they create unsafe environments for themselves, the students, and other vehicles in the parking lot.

U-TURNS

U-turns are not allowed in front of Eagle Canyon Drive. If you make a U-turn, you risk getting a ticket from a Sheriff's Deputy. If you are in a hurry, continue to drive up Eagle Canyon Drive. There is an exit to Chino Ave. further up the street.

EAGLE CANYON APARTMENTS

I have received reports from parents of cars speeding through the Eagle Canyon Apartments. Please be mindful of our neighbors and the children who are walking home. We want everyone to get home safely.

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
