Ideas for Learning at Home
Read, Read, Read
Read with your child every day. Have your child find the beginning of the sentence and show where one sentence ends and another begins. . Practice finding words with short vowels like "hop" or "cat".
Math activities
Using word problems have your child decide if you are 'joining' (adding) or 'separating' (subtracting) the sets. Example: Mom made 6 cookies and you ate 2 of them; how many were left? Dad gave you 5 pieces of candy and mom gave you 2 more pieces; how many pieces in all?"
