Director's Corner

Dear ECDC Families,

What a joyful and full month April was here at ECDC! We had the pleasure of celebrating Week of the Young Child—a special time dedicated to recognizing the importance of early childhood education and the amazing little learners in our care. One of the highlights was Work Together Wednesday—it was such a joy to see the hallways buzzing with creativity and filled with collaborative artwork made by our children. Their imaginations and teamwork truly brought the building to life!

We also celebrated our wonderful teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing ECDC Parent Council and to all of you who helped make the week so special. From thoughtful notes and surprises to daily treats, your kindness made our teachers feel valued and appreciated.

In early May, we were thrilled to host our Mother’s Day Celebration, and it was a truly beautiful morning. We loved seeing so many of our incredible ECDC moms—thank you for taking the time to join us! It was a gift to spend the morning mingling, connecting, and celebrating the special role mothers play in the lives of our children.

I’m also very excited to officially introduce myself as the new Director of St. Peter’s ECDC. My name is Jaime Zavala, and I’m honored to be stepping into this role full-time. With over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, I am deeply passionate about creating nurturing, enriching spaces where children and families feel seen, supported, and celebrated. It is truly a joy to be a part of this special community.

As we begin wrapping up the school year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Katie Abbott for her dedication and leadership as Interim Director this year. Katie brought consistency, care, and warmth to ECDC during a time of transition, and we are so grateful for her service. Thank you, Katie—you’ve made a lasting impact, and we can’t thank you enough!

Our last day of the 2024–2025 school year will be Thursday, May 15th. As we prepare to say goodbye for the summer, we are filled with gratitude for all the growth, milestones, and memories we’ve shared this year.

During the summer months, our teachers will be participating in professional development, preparing classrooms, and recharging for another exciting year ahead. We look forward to welcoming new and returning families in the fall with fresh energy and open arms.

Thank you for being an essential part of our ECDC family. Wishing you all a joyful summer!

Warm Regards,
Jaime Zavala
Director, St. Peter’s ECDC

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences

We would like to take a moment to reflect on the successful parent-teacher conferences that took place in April. These conferences provided an invaluable opportunity for parents and teachers to connect, discuss student progress, and collaborate on the best strategies for supporting our students. We appreciate the time and effort that so many parents dedicated to attending the conferences and engaging in open dialogue about their child’s foundational learning. Your involvement is crucial, and it truly enhances the learning experience for all our students.
