Call News Update
Thank you, Lord! Brooke Gast (nee Behl), our Grade-3-4 Teacher, has returned her call to our sister school in Goodhue, MN.
Dear congregation at St. John,
A few weeks ago I received a call to serve as grades 3-5 teacher at St. John’s in Goodhue Minnesota. I appreciate all of the kind words and insights that I have received from both St. John in Libertyville and St. John’s in Goodhue.
This has been the first call I have had to deliberate since starting my ministry here at St. John. After thoughtful prayer and deliberation I have decided to return the call to Goodhue and continue my ministry here in Libertyville.
Please continue praying for St. John’s in Goodhue as they continue their search for a teacher in grades 3-5. May God continue to bless their ministry.
In Christ,
Mrs. Brooke Gast
Amy Schubert's husband, Pastor Bill Schubert, received a call on Sunday, November 17, to serve as Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, WI. Please keep Amy and Bill in your prayers as they deliberate where to best serve. Pastor Schubert currently serves at our sister church, Our Savior's Lutheran, in Zion, IL.
Advent Wednesdays - 12/4, 12/11, 12/18

The afternoon will include:
- Mission Focus – vote to select the mission focus for the coming year.
- Prayer Partner – if you participated as a Prayer Partner, reveal your identity to your 2024 prayer partner. We will select new prayer partners for 2025 and review the purpose of Prayer Partners for those participating for the first time.
- White Elephant Game – bring a white elephant and play our game to go home with a new white elephant.
- Christmas Hymn Sing Along
Call Jeanne Thies (847-840-8668) or Nancy Toberman (847-362-1920) if you have questions.
*Definition of a White Elephant: something you have around your home that has outlived its usefulness and would enjoy life at someone else’s home.
Christmas Piano Recital
Tuesday evening, December 10, the student pianists of St. John will host a recital in the St. John sanctuary. The music begins at 6:30.
Lovely dresses, handsome ties, happy smiles, and warm songs - both the traditional and a few lesser-known old European carols - will be performed by students of Mrs. Kopczynski.
All families of St. John, along with grandparents, neighbors, and even Great-Aunt Josie are welcome.
Gifts for Hillcrest
This year, we would like to bring the residents at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake some Christmas gifts! Here is an Amazon list that shows what each person would enjoy: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/30WFUOMG698I6?ref=cm_sw_em_r_gr_un_Izuq2RJKgAgcq
You are welcome to shop from the Amazon list or do the shopping on your own, but either way, please let Karlie Massey (karkar1426@gmail.com) know when you've picked up specific items so that she can mark them off the list. Please note that there are names for each person either above each gift or in the comments section of each item along with the requested size or color from each person. Please purchase clothing items in the correct requested sizes (found in the comments).
You are welcome to wrap the gifts yourself or leave them unwrapped and we will have the youth group/Sunday school classes wrap. All gifts are due to Karlie by December 14. Please let Karlie know if you would like to make arrangements to mail directly to her or drop off at St. John. Thank you in advance for your help and generosity!

Parent Teacher Partnership:
The Parent-Teacher-Partnership exists to promote the Christian welfare of the children and youth in church, home, school, and community; foster a Christian relationship among the congregation, pastors, teachers, students, and parents; promote a spirit of pride in our school; assist in the planning and organizing of special school activities; and help establish an interesting and educational program for the members of the organization. St. John is a success because of the dedication of the teachers and staff, engagement from the students, and most importantly the incredible support of our families.
Current Events: PTP Read-A-Thon is ON! We have already exceeded our goal so we will not be doing a spring fundraiser for the PTP, this will be our only one for the year so let's push towards a strong finish.
Upcoming Events: February Book Fair and Daddy Daughter Dance
Join us at our monthly meeting as we plan ahead and enlist volunteers for upcoming events. All meetings are the second Tuesday of the month from 3:30-4:30 in Mr. Wintrone's room. Attendance counts towards volunteer hours and child care is provided.
Next Meeting Dates: 12/10, 1/14
