Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had an extremely busy week in school this week and the children have thoroughly enjoyed everything that we have done. It has been wonderful to receive so much positive feedback from you – thank you for your warmth and kindness.
This Week
Sunday 12th November
On Sunday, our Head Boy and Head Girl took part in the Remembrance Parade in Pontefract where they laid a wreath at the Cenotaph along with many other schools and members of our community. We were proud and honoured that they were able to take part.
Monday 13th November
On Monday, we celebrated Diwali – the Hindu Festival of Lights. We held an assembly, and the children were reminded of the purpose of the festival. Each class spent a session with a dance teacher and learned a special Hindu dance. There was immense fun and giggling in the school hall and the dancing was a joy to see. In addition, our youngest children spent the morning with Classroom Kitchen and made delicious vegetable samosas. What a wonderful day to celebrate this fantastic festival and for the children to learn about different cultures.
Thursday 16th November
On Thursday, as part of Anti-Bullying Week, we all wore odd socks to celebrate uniqueness and promote kindness. As you can imagine, there were some wonderful socks on display! Each class spent time discussing bullying and how to be kind to others.
Friday 17th November
This morning in our assembly, it was amazing to see such a sea of colour as the children came dressed in bright clothes or spots for Children In Need. Thank you to all who gave £1 and who sent children with copper coins to stick on our large-scale Pudsey Bear. As you can see, he is full to the brim. All proceeds will be sent to Children In Need to support this wonderful charity.
Some children across school have also risen to various challenges over the course of the last few weeks to raise funds individually. Once all funds have been collected, we will confirm how much we have all raised.
Civic Society Wreath
Some of our students were involved in creating a wreath for Pontefract Civic Society. I am sure you can all agree it looks fantastic!
