March Extras
and Reminders
Thank You Families!
Thank you to all of our families who took the time to answer the Panorama Spring survey. At the end of the survey window we had about 30% of our families who took the time give their feedback. This is a huge increase over the number of responses we had just this past Fall! In the coming weeks the school will begin to have access to overall survey data for our school. We will do our best to use this information to guide our plans as we continue to work to meet the needs of our families and students.
Early Release and Spring Break Reminder
Reminder!
Spring Break begins with a 30 minute early release from school on Thursday, March 28th. Pick up your students from school or their bus stop (if they ride the bus) 30 minutes earlier than the normal time. This means that students will be released from Northtowne at 3:00 p.m.
There is no school Friday, March 29th - Monday, April 8th. We look forward to seeing students back in the building on Tuesday, April 9th.
The Spirit Wear Sale is Back!
Did you miss the earlier chance to get your Northtowne spirit wear? Good news! Our online spirit wear shop is open again!
Spirit wear, or clothing that shows the school you support/are affiliated with, is popular in US culture. Northtowne Elementary has coordinated with a company that is providing us with a spirit wear online storefront. A portion of the sales will come back to Northtowne as a fundraiser.
Orders can be placed through April 19th. When ordering remember to select "DHE Customs" pickup before completing the order. Selecting the "DHE Customs" pickup option will save you the shipping costs. Your items will be sent to Northtowne Elementary and we will sort and send home your order with your student.
Please note this sale is entirely online. Do not send money to school with your student as we will not be able to make the order for you. The online site accepts payments by credit card, debit card, and the Mastercard/Visa branded gift cards (you can purchase these at grocery stores).
Solar Eclipse Viewing
If our Central Ohio weather cooperates, we will be able to see the solar eclipse on the afternoon of Monday, April 8th. Columbus will see a partial eclipse but not far from Columbus, the north and west, is the path for the total eclipse.
Remember, it is never safe to look directly at any portion of the sun, even during an eclipse event! Doing so could cause lasting eyesight damage. View a solar eclipse only with the proper protective eyewear. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the sun. Safe solar viewers are thousands of times darker and ought to comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard.
Columbus Metropolitan Libraries are giving away 4 pairs of eclipse glasses per family, while supplies last. The library also has a watch party planned for the day of the eclipse. More information is linked below.
