Adventures in Learning
Music
Third Grade students are reviewing their solfege signing with So, Mi and La and learned a silly bean bag game called "Plainsies Clapsies". They had to sing while they tossed the bean bag different ways without dropping it on the floor! (Pictured is Mrs. Holt's class)
First Grade students have been exploring high and low pitches by singing, moving and listening to music. We have also been learning how to play the rhythm sticks with a steady beat. (Pictured is Mrs. Perrine's class).
Grandparents: We can't wait to spend time with you next week!
STEAM
We have been very busy in the STEAM room learning the scientific method and the engineering design process!
Kindergarten STEAM
Kindergarten did science experiments to test which objects sink and float. We also practiced drawing and following directions without giving up!
First Grade STEAM
First grade did a science experiment called Chromatography to see what makes up a color in a marker. Then, they used their art skills to turn it into artwork.
Gifted
Exploring the power of words and language with Frindle
Reading is an adventure to a new land...
4th grade reading students adventure into a land beyond the wardrobe in C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." These students read about the adventures of four siblings as they navigate the White Witch, King Aslan, and talking beavers. They have been answering challenging discussion questions and most recently have been acting out scenes by performing a "Reader's Theater."
5th grade reading students join ten year old Annemarie Johansen and her best friend Ellen Rosen in 1943 Copenhagen in Lois Lowry's Number the Stars. Students have been answering questions, discussing the text with peers, and most recently have been working on an enrichment project where they deepen their knowledge of the Holocaust.
