Color Days with Mrs. Feldmann
Learning to identify and read color words is such an important skill at the beginning of Kindergarten. We sing songs about how they are spelled, recite and tap color poems, and create projects about the color word we are learning! To make it even more immersive-- we ask students to wear that color clothing if possible. It's just plain fun!
Color Days with Miss Eierdam
On Tuesday, Miss Eierdam's class learned about the color Brown! When students were asked what indoor and outdoor things are brown, so many of them thought about trees and the changing leaves. With the help of Miss Eierdam, the students created a fall handprint tree. This tree is the perfect fall decoration for the Kindergarten classroom!
PBIS Corner
PBIS Showcase and Fantastic Behaviors All Around
PBIS is an evidence-based framework that can be used in a variety of educational and therapeutic settings, including K-12 schools, early childhood programs, and treatment programs.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) can have many benefits for students, teachers, and schools, including:
- Improved academic performance: Students perform better academically, and there's an increase in correct academic responses.
- Reduced problem behaviors: Students demonstrate fewer negative behaviors, and there are fewer office discipline referrals and suspensions.
- Better social and emotional skills: Students develop better social and emotional competence, and learn to manage their emotions and interact appropriately with others.
- Improved school climate: Students, teachers, and parents are more satisfied with the school climate.
- Increased instructional time: Students are more engaged, which increases instructional time.
- Empowered students: Students are empowered to play a central role in their education.
Every Friday is a special day at North. The students can turn in their tickets for prizes or lunch with the principal. We are so proud to see all the happy faces because they are making great choices!
