TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
What a truly wonderful week we’ve had at Titus Elementary! Our halls have been filled with laughter, creativity, and the vibrant energy of our amazing students. It’s so heartwarming to see our Tigers engaged, enthusiastic, and shining brightly in their learning. Each day, I am reminded of the incredible potential that resides within each of our children, and it fills me with pride to witness their growth and support for one another.
As we look ahead to next week, Halloween is just around the corner! We have some thrilling activities planned to celebrate this festive occasion, from creative classroom projects to fun events that will bring our community together. It’s a perfect time for our students to express their creativity and enjoy the spirit of the season. Please be sure to check out the Tiger Times for all the details on events and how you can join in the fun!
Wishing you all a wonderful and joyous autumn weekend filled with warmth, laughter, and family time.
Warmest wishes.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hello Titus Community.
Hi Titus Community-
We had a great week here at Titus and I am so proud of all our students. I have been popping into each classroom and continue to be so impressed what I see. The attention to detail by our teachers and their preparation has led to a rich learning experience for everyone.
The book fair has been a huge success, and it was topped off by an amazing Trunk or Treat last night at Titus. Thank you to our HSA for organizing an incredible event. My two sons couldn’t believe the set up and loved the bounce houses. All the costumes looked great! I look forward to seeing more next week at the Halloween Parade. Have a great weekend everyone!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Titus Teachers Honored
This Friday, October 25th, is Senior Night at CB South. Football players who are graduating this school year were asked to pick one teacher who has made an impact on their lives. Three Titus teachers were chosen this year to be recognized this Friday evening before the football game as part of the Senior Night Celebration – Andrew Lisovskiy invited Mrs. Yurick; Josh Nagathota picked Mrs. London, and Zach Schwabe selected Miss Brennan. These three Titus teachers will proudly wear their former student’s football jersey to school on Friday and to the football game on Friday night as they escort their former student onto the field.
Veterans Day Information
Titus Families- Are your family’s veterans on the Titus Wall of Honor?
In November, the windows of the rotunda will be filled with pictures of United States military personnel all related to Titus students or staff. If you have a family member who served or is currently serving in any branch of the United States military, please scan and email a picture of them (picture size 4x6 or smaller) along with the information below.
Pictures need to be emailed to Mrs. Schorpp hniemeyerschorpp@cbsd.org marked Wall of Honor by Friday, October 25th . Thank you!
Please note that if you sent in a picture in a previous year, you do not need to resend it. We keep them from year to year; however, if the child who initially brought in the photo has moved on to middle school, we may not have a copy of the picture.
If you need to update any information, such as additional children now attending Titus, or to check if we have the picture, please email Mrs. Schorpp at hniemeyerschorpp@cbsd.org Thank you!! Note: If your picture is turned in after the deadline, we cannot guarantee that it will make this year’s Wall of Honor or Photo Story slide show.

ABSENCES AND APPOINTMENTS
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.

FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS
Info on Flexible Instructional Days, Expectations for Families and Students
A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is designed for situations where school buildings need to close due to weather or other emergencies, but learning can still continue at home. Utilizing a FID allows us to avoid extending the school year or disrupting the instructional calendar as well as provides an opportunity for students to practice their skills and become more independent learners. Elementary and secondary students and families have certain expectations should a FID be necessary. Complete information, including an explanatory video with a translatable script, can be accessed on our FID webpage.

Emergency Responders Tax Rebate
CBSD Thanks Volunteer Emergency Responders with Tax Rebate
If you are a volunteer with a local fire company or nonprofit emergency medical service agency, CBSD wants to thank you for your service by helping reduce your property taxes as a result of a newly enacted Volunteer Service Tax Credit Program passed by the School Board in Sept. 2024. To qualify for the tax credit, volunteers must be active members of an eligible fire or emergency medical services agency and earn points based on their service. Learn more
Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
New This Year: Limits on Due Dates for Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
In past years, the district has notified faculty in the week or weeks prior to religious or cultural observances to ensure they are cognizant of these events when assigning schoolwork. This year, the district has shared a year-long calendar of these observances with faculty and set guidelines on when no homework or summative tasks should be due.

Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
