Wolverine Weekly Updates
Week of March 3-7
A Message from Mrs. Ushery
Greetings Wynbrooke Family,
We had a fantastic week of teaching and learning as we wrapped up February and celebrated Black History Month. Our talented 3rd-5th graders shined bright in an amazing performance at our Black History Program last night, featuring a special treat from Stephenson High School's band. A special shout-out goes to our wonderful music teacher, Mr. Brown, for his leadership and vision. Good job!!
Happy March! It’s a new month full of exciting events at Wynbrooke! Our goal this month is to inspire a love for reading and help our students reach new heights in their learning. Next week, we are thrilled to celebrate Read Across America Week with a variety of fun and engaging activities.
To keep the momentum going, we are also kicking off our March Madness Lexile Challenge! We need your support to help boost our students' Lexile levels. Please ensure your children are reading for at least 20-30 minutes every day. Your child's teacher will share additional resources to enhance comprehension skills. Let’s work together to build a strong culture of reading and elevate our students' Lexile levels!
Parents, the week ahead is filled with several events, including Read Across America Week, the opening of the Pre-K lottery, our Milestones Parent Meeting, and Parent-Teacher Conferences. While you’re in the building, please take a moment to stop by the Lost & Found.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Devetra Ushery

We Need Your Input: Take the Georgia School Climate Survey!
Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School will take the new Georgia School Climate Survey this year. Each parent or guardian is invited to take the family version to answer questions about the current school or schools you have a child or children attending. If two or more children attend the same school, please only complete one survey for that school.
The survey measures what you think about how the school engages with families. Answers are not linked to names in any way. When typing answers, please do not give names or information that you don’t want to share with this school. Data will be shared with school leaders to help improve the school and will be published on the GaDOE website.
Please help by sharing your honest opinion on this 22-question survey. To take the survey, please https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=DAA293DD
Student School Climate Survey Grades 3-5 ONLY
If you would like to opt your child out of participating in this survey, please complete bottom portion of the parent letter that was sent home with scholars last Monday.

SIGN UP FOR CAREER DAY!
Wynbrooke Career Day
The Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School Career Day Committee, along with our esteemed Principal, Mrs. Ushery, extend a warm invitation to you for our Annual Career Day on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Career Week at Wynbrooke, celebrated from March 10 through March 14, promises to be an engaging and inspiring week for our students. Currently in the planning stages, we are dedicated to crafting various motivating, enriching, and rewarding activities throughout the week. This year's Career Day theme is "Be the Change."
The primary goal of Career Day is to expose our students to a diverse array of careers, provide them with insights into the professional world, and reinforce the importance of education in achieving their aspirations. Students will have the valuable opportunity to interact with professionals from various fields, gaining firsthand knowledge about different career paths and journeys.
We would be honored if you could join us for an appreciation continental breakfast and a brief program at 8:30 AM in our Media Center. This will be a delightful start to the day and a chance for networking and camaraderie.
Your expertise is highly valued, and we invite you to share your knowledge with our students by leading engaging sessions in 2-3 classes, each consisting of approximately 25 students. Your commitment to 30 minutes per class will significantly contribute to our student's understanding of different career paths. We are eager to share our excitement as we modify and enhance our Career Day plans. Your presence and participation would add immense value to this initiative, and we hope you can find time in your busy schedule to attend the breakfast and program.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of the committee members listed below. Your support and involvement are crucial as we collectively work towards educating and inspiring our students. We look forward to your enthusiastic participation in making Career Day 2025 an enriching and memorable experience for our students. Greetings Wynbrooke Families!
Thank you to all the families that have donated items and/or time this week. We appreciate all you do! Remember you are required to complete 8 volunteer hours for each semester for a total of 16 to be completed May 16, 2025. For every $10 that is spent, you will earn 1 volunteer hour or the time spent assisting during school events can also count towards your hours. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at Jaumekia_M_Caver@dekalbschoolsga.org
If there is a sibling at another Dekalb County Theme School, you will only need to complete 8 hours here and also 8 hours at the other school. I can provide a letter to show completion of 8 hours here.
Please use the link below to see our current volunteer opportunities. Please remember when dropping off items in the front office to label them with your child’s name and homeroom teacher along with the receipt to ensure you get your credit.

Greetings Parents!
As we head into the February break, we encourage you to take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy some great books! Reading is a wonderful way to explore new worlds, spark creativity, and keep our minds engaged while we rest.
Students, we also invite you to log your reading on Beanstack throughout the break! Tracking your reading helps you stay motivated and allows you to see your progress over time. Plus, you may have the chance to earn badges and rewards along the way! Simply log in to your Beanstack account through Clever and record the books you read during the break.
Parents, you can support your child’s reading journey by setting aside time for independent or family reading, discussing books together, or visiting your local library.
Enjoy your break, and happy reading! We look forward to hearing about all the amazing books you discover!
Happy Reading,
Ms. Ashlee Jelks
