Weekly round up
28th June 2024
Low Ash weekly round up - week ending 28.6.24
We can't quite believe we are now half way through the final half term of the school year. Finally, though, although short lived, the sun shone and it felt like summer! It has been another busy week at Low Ash with the Year 3 visit to Fountains Abbey and the Reception trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
Attendance
This week's school attendance is: 93.9%
The classes of the week are 2M and 5B both with 99.3% attendance.
We aim for 96% attendance but, currently, are falling short of this every week. We continue to have numerous requests for holidays from school. A reminder that we are unable to authorise any leave of absence for pupils unless there are exceptional circumstances.
OPAL award
On Wednesday, our advisor from OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) came to present us with our OPAL platinum award. We are very proud of our playtime provision and are pleased this has been recognised. As we shared before, we are the first school in Bradford to achieve this award. We still have so much more we want to develop outdoors though so the journey does not stop here!
Mr. Singh - our play learning mentor- had an interview with the T & A and a photographer visited school. Look out for Low Ash in the paper in the forthcoming days!

On Wednesday pupils will spend the majority of the morning in their new classroom with their new teacher. They will return to their new classroom with their new teacher at the end of the day for story time. On Wednesday, please collect pupils from their new classrooms (a photo explaining where to collect your child will be sent next week) and feel free to pop into the new classroom or to have quick chat with the new teacher.
Next week we will also send out some 'meet the teacher' information which will help you to get to know the class teachers a little more.
Parking
Sadly, we have received calls this week from local residents complaining of parents / carers blocking their drives and then being abusive when asked to move. This does not set a good example to our pupils and is equally not fair on the local residents. Once again, we ask you to not park in permit only zones. As always, if you see anyone parked illegally or irresponsibly please take a photo of their registration and email it to parkingissues@bradford.gov.uk
