SHS Weekly Update
May 31st, 2025

Principal's Update
Thank you all for a wonderful school year. This school year had so many great events and memories for our students and community. Our end of the year State test scores were, again, outstanding and our Advanced Placement numbers went up significantly. Our students continued to represent us at the highest levels in Band and Orchestra, getting 1s (best score) at State competition. Our theatre program continues to be one of the best in the area. Our athletic programs had great success in every season.
Strongsville High School has results that our community can be proud of but even more our school continues to grow opportunities and different pathways for our students. I hope that everyone has a great summer break and I am truly excited to start another school year this August. This is my last newsletter for this year but will start with communications in early August.

We continue to devote ALL monies raised to projects for children and youth in Strongsville and
Northeast Ohio. As a NON-PROFIT, ALL-VOLUNTEER organization, we have:
• Provided grants for disadvantaged students, to participate in school events and activities;
• Provided funding for “Shop with a Cop,” so that disadvantaged children can purchase holiday gifts;
• Donated to Pathway Caring for Children, to assist young adults transitioning out of foster care;
• Awarded over $500,000 in post-secondary education scholarships over the past 50 years;
• Annually sponsored oratorical & essay contests for high school students;
• and MUCH, MUCH MORE!
There are a number of options where we need your support. Hole sponsorships are $100. Your
name/company name will be printed on a custom sign and displayed at a tee box. We also need in-kind donations such as merchandise or gift cards, to utilize in raffles. Additionally, we would love for you to participate in our Outing! Simply complete the attached form to register your foursome, and/or become a sponsor.
Monetary and in-kind donations of $100 or more are tax deductible and will be documented

SECONDARY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES - SUMMER 2025
Based on our experiences with summer learning over the last few years, we are making some changes this summer. Overall, we are not seeing the impact of summer learning on our students in Grs. K-7 and attendance has been diminishing each year. Therefore, we will not be continuing with a summer learning option for students in those grades. However, we will continue to offer summer learning opportunities for students currently enrolled in Grs. 8-11. Summer learning for these students will be held from June 2 - June 26, 2025. Click HERE for our Summer Learning FAQs.
High School Credit Recovery Classes. Online credit recovery classes will be offered for current high school students who need to retake a course. Classes are online with required in-person tutoring and final exams on June 25th and 26th. Online registration will be open from Monday, April 21st through Monday, June 2nd. FOUR SHS SENIORS COMPLETE THE STRONGSTART PRE-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Congratulations to the four SHS seniors who completed our District’s inaugural StrongStart Pre-Apprenticeship Program - Abdul Almustafa, Saad Almustafa, Caiden Hudson, and Rebecca O'Driscoll. Through a collaboration with the Greater Cleveland Partnership, SHS is able to provide opportunities for students in four different career pathways: Finance, Health Science, Hospitality & Tourism, and Information Technology.
Students who participate in courses that teach employability skills and participate in a variety of work-based learning opportunities as part of the program are recognized for their preparedness to enter the world of work.
*We are working to expand this opportunity to more students. If you know of a community business who is interested in participating in this program, please contact Dan Foust (dfoust@scsmustangs.org).
