Week of September 16
From the Principal
I can't believe that we have only been back for one full week so far! Thank you for your patience as the beginning of the year bumps smooth out.
AM session - Wonderful on time arrivals!. Entry will be even quicker now that ID photos are complete. New IDs will be given out on Monday.
PM Session - We are seeing DANGEROUS driving by our students in the neighborhood - AND excessive lateness. TAKE THE BUS if you cannot safely get here on time.
Parents, PLEASE speak to your students regarding safe driving practices. Students, EVERY stop sign must be obeyed. A neighbor sent a video documenting multiple students running stop signs and traveling at unsafe speeds in the neighborhood. Even if no cars are around, you must come to a full and complete stop at every stop sign. We have provided the Nassau County Police Department with our entry and dismissal times so that they can increase their presence and issue tickets during peak travel times.
Thanks everyone and have a safe and productive week!
Mrs. Hackett

Did you know: You are earning 3 college credits RIGHT NOW? 🎓
Are you planning on attending Nassau Community College after graduation? All GC Tech students who continue on at NCC, complete our 2-year program, maintain an 80% average at GC Tech, and a 75% average at their home school are eligible for 3 credits for ECO 110 - Personal Finance at NCC.
We maintain many articulation agreements with colleges and post-secondary schools. Agreements vary! Some schools reduce application costs, others count our curriculum towards their program's prerequisites - saving you $$$! Here are just a few of the highlights:
Cosmetology - 5 credits at Five Towns College
Auto - 9 credits at New York Automotive & Diesel Institute
Construction Electrical - 6 credits at SUNY Alfred
Be sure to read the fine print - the agreements depend on what program you are applying to, and have varying application dates and GPAs. You can find out more information on our website at:
College and Career Planning / Articulation Agreements (nassauboces.org)
Can you help us start our Parent/Teacher/Student Association?
Starting a PTA or a PTSA is challenging when families are spread out between 23 sending school districts. Please click below if you are interested/available to help us start a PTA.
SkillsUSA - info session was a success!
Thank you to all who participated in the SkillsUSA info session! We are so excited for competitions this year! New York State Chapter of SkillsUSA has not opened registration yet, as soon as we have a working link we will send it out.
🚒Evacuation/Fire Drill This Week🚒
The safety of our students and staff is very important to us. One of the ways we stay safe is by holding school safety drills.
Within the next 5 school days the Nassau BOCES GC Tech will hold an evacuation/fire safety drill. For more information about these drills, please refer to
Emergency Planning Guide for Parents
(https://www.nassauboces.org/cms/lib/NY01928409/Centricity/Domain/913/2023%20Emergency%20Planning%20Guide%20for%20Parents.pdf ) or call the Main Office (516) 604-4200 with any questions.
This school year, in accordance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements, Nassau BOCES will be notifying you prior to each safety drill. There are 13 emergency drills each school year.
