December Design Principle: Empathy and Caring
"Our human compassion binds us one to the other- not in pity or patronizingly, but as human beings who have learned how to turn our common suffering into hope for the future."
~Nelson Mandela
Hello Glennwood Families,
We are looking forward to kindergarten's winter performance tomorrow at 8:30 am along with their Celebration of Learning immediately following. We will also recognize December birthdays! Thank you to Ms. Pierce and the kindergarten team for all of your hard work helping our students to SOAR. We hope to see you there!
REMINDER! Your voice is very important and we want your feedback! The City Schools of Decatur appreciates the contributions of parents, students, and employees. Each year, CSD takes part in annual school climate surveys and climate star ratings organized by the Georgia Department of Education. The outcomes will contribute to our district's School Climate Star Ratings, which are included in each school's yearly College and Career Ready Performance Index. All public schools in Georgia participate in a Student Health Survey, Parent Survey, and School Personnel Survey as part of the school climate survey process. Please click on this link Parent School Climate Survey. It should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Warmest regards,
Holly Brookins, Ph.D
Principal

Through an annual program, we highlight their dedication to using these values to impact our community positively. This year, the award will be presented to two students from each upper elementary school, four from middle school, and four from high school.

Everyone Invited! Sponsored by PTA DEI Committee!
Hi parents –Our school is participating in a very special community service program to raise funds for the American Heart Association. We’re joining in the fight against our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke.
This month our school will hold our Kids Heart Challenge event. This program helps students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also teaches the value of giving back to those in need. Heart disease affects many families in our community, so your support means a lot!
- Your student will earn their lifesaving Heart Heroes, that they met at kickoff, instantly!
- Be sure to register online here!
- Complete Finn’s Mission online and be sure to share with friends and family that your student is participating, for their chance to earn mystery gifts.
- Glennwood Elementary’s goal is to raise $3,000 and see 60 students registered online, taking a heart-healthy challenge! Together, we can make a BIG IMPACT! If you wish to participate, please click here to get started: Glennwood Page
