SVDP School
January 15, 2021 Newsletter
Hello SVDP Community,
We have continued to host classes via Zoom, but look forward to welcoming our in-person students back to campus next week beginning on Tuesday, January 19th. Remember, Monday is a holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In-person learners will be on campus for all four days. On a four-day week, we do not have our regular distance learning day on Wednesday.
Next week we begin piloting a new phase for on-campus learning for our 5th and 6th graders. They will be attending school in two cohorts - morning and afternoon, which will allow them to be on campus four days a week. This pilot will run to the end of the trimester through February 26, 2021. We appreciate the willingness of parents, students, and faculty to undertake this pilot.

SVDP COVID Community Update
After hosting two COVID pop-up test sites at SVDP, we are thrilled to announce that all of the almost 300 samples taken were negative. This is a strong indicator of how each of you is holding yourselves accountable to keep our community safe and allowing us to continue on-campus learning.
We field many questions about travel. We appreciate your communication regarding travel and ask that you continue to keep us informed by emailing adminstration@svdpsf.com. However, the administration can not grant you permission to travel or prevent you from doing so. Keep making good choices.
Please remember that if any member of your household tests positive for coronavirus, you must report this result to administration@svdpsf.com. This is part of our Infection Mitigation Plan -Health & Safety Protocols and part of your pledge to be an active participant in campus activities at SVDP.

WCEA/WASC News
Every six years Catholic schools go through a reflective process of evaluating the religious and academic programs offered and setting goals for the next six years. You have been part of this process by responding to surveys and taking part in discussions such as CoffeeTALK and other forms of feedback. For the next six years, SVDP is proposing the following goals to the review committee:
- Implement further research-based methodologies that support high impact instructional strategies.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools to disaggregate, analyze, and correlate data points for curricular improvements across all subjects.
- Develop and implement a reflective tool for students tied to the Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs).
- Expand parent partnership in the spiritual, academic, and social/emotional development of our students through the lens of Catholic Identity.
- Utilize the Substitution / Augmentation / Modification / Redefinition (SMAR) Model to shift practices from substitution/augmentation to modification/redefinition to strengthen technology integration.
