Celebrations and Coming Dates
With only 22 school days remaining after today, we are getting down to the wire! Many of you are spending late nights at the baseball and soccer fields, and the warm, sunny weather makes it tough to be inside these next few weeks.
ILEARN testing is complete for third and fourth grades, and fifth and sixth grades will finish by May 10th. As soon as we are able, we will share ILEARN score reports with families so that you are aware of your child's progress toward the mastery of grade level standards as measured by the state assessment.
With nearly 60% of our students registered for next year, we are in great shape to have every current student either registered or designated as not-returning for the 24-25 school year, which allows us to finalize classroom rosters and schedules much more quickly than if we are chasing down missing registrations all summer. If you have not registered your child for school, you must complete the registration each year. It will not automatically renew. Log into your Campus Parent app and complete registration in 10 - 15 minutes, unless you have changes or need to upload documents.
- Now until May 10th - ILEARN state testing (grades 3 - 8)
- Friday, Apr 26th - PTO Hat Day - $1
- Thursday, May 9th - Camp Kindergarten 6 PM
- Thursday, May 16th - Spring Musical (Grades 4 - 6 only) & STEM Night 6 to 7 PM
- Wednesday, May 29th - Awards Day 4 - 6 @ 8:30 AM and K - 3 @ 11:00 AM
- Thursday, May 30th - Field Day (Sign Up Genius below)
For the awards program, please remember that all K - 3 students will receive at least one award, but 4 - 6 students receive awards they earn in math, reading, science, or social studies, in addition to PACE awards for special area classes, conduct, and All A's Superintendent's Awards. All students in grades 4 - 6 will not necessarily receive an award. For Field Day, we plan to be outside from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM for water games, slides, and other activities. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before they come to school that day. Feel free to send a change of clothes for them to put on after they finish with water games and slides! It's going to be epic, with new stations like a Foam Party this year! We're looking forward to a great final few weeks with students before they head out for summer.

SUN Bucks (Summer EBT)
Indiana will launch a new benefits program called SUN Bucks this summer to provide eligible families $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries while school is out. This will help parents and caregivers provide healthy food for their children, but it also allows flexibility for families to choose foods that fit their lifestyle and summer plans!
Eligibility criteria:
- household already participates in SNAP, TANF, or income-based Medicaid
- school-aged child is a foster child defined as being a ward of the state, homeless, or migrant, or
- the child attends a school that offers the National School Lunch or Breakfast Program AND the household income meets requirements for free or reduced-price school meals
Field Day Sign Ups
As in years past, we rely on volunteers to run a safe, fun Field Day for all students on the last day of school We've added a few different stations this year to keep the day exciting and new.
- Gamerz Video Game Truck
- Foam Party
- Water slides
- Relay races
- Sno cones
- Lawn games
If you'd like to volunteer, sign up here and be sure you have a completed background check on file at the office!
Don't forget a dry set of clothes and sunscreen! Students are welcome to wear hats and sunglasses.
BBF Donations
The Borden Braves Foundation is at it again! They donated funds to make the BES Culinary Crew possible, and this group of fifth and sixth graders stay after school until 4:30 to test their skills in the kitchen. For their first meeting, they made French toast, sausage, and smoothies, and they impressed themselves and us with how well they worked in teams and cleaned up their areas after cooking some delicious food.

Pick Up Patrol
For transportation changes and absences, we'll be using Pick Up Patrol again this school year. We think you'll find it incredibly easy to use, and it will ensure transportation changes are received and communicated to all necessary staff. It will also allow you to report absences without having to call the attendance line! More info will be coming in an email before school begins.
