NEW: Your Sunday message from Mr. Smith
Happy Sunday, Jaguar Community!
Today is Groundhog Day, and it looks like the groundhog saw his shadow — so we may be in for six more weeks of winter! As we bundle up, we also step into February, a month filled with meaningful celebrations. We’re proud to kick off Black History Month, a time to honor the rich heritage, contributions, and achievements of Black Americans. Stay tuned for details on how we will commemorate this important month through engaging activities and events. This week is also National School Counseling Appreciation Week. Our incredible school counselors play a vital role in supporting the success and well-being of our students. Let’s show them our gratitude throughout the week! Thank you for being such an engaged and supportive community. Here's to a fantastic February!
There has been a growing number of tardies to first period and specifically, a great number of cars still dropping off students after 7:45, the beginning of school. Families should prioritize earlier arrival times to school so that students are not missing the first five (5) to ten (10) minutes of first period.
We are offering the MVA Learner’s Permit Test on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 2:35 p.m. Students can pick up the permission slip in the main office and MUST RETURN the permission slip signed by Friday, March 14, 2025. Students must be at least 15 and 9 months to test.
Second semester parking permits will be available for purchase beginning Friday, January 24, 2025, for $39.00 (processing fee included) payable by cash, check (made payable to Northwest High School), or online using a credit card through SchoolCash Online. To pay online, a link will be sent to the student’s school email address once the application has been received and approved for eligibility. Applications and payment can be brought to the business office, Room 322, before school starting at 7:25 a.m., during lunch and after school until 2:45 p.m. Applications (two-page document) are also available in the Business Office for students to pick up, as well as on the Northwest HS webpage under the Back-to-School Resource Bank. As a reminder, students must be cleared of all obligations (including but not limited to all current and past AP exam fees, textbook fees, and athletic uniforms) and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in order to be eligible for a student parking permit.

REMINDER: We need your DONATIONS!
We are excited to announce a new class at Northwest High School designed for students who have never had the opportunity to play an instrument before. To help make this opportunity possible, we are seeking donations of musical instruments in working order or those needing only minor repairs. If you have an instrument that you no longer use, please consider donating it to our music department. You can drop off any donations at the Northwest main office. Your contribution could give a student a chance to experience the joy of learning to play an instrument—an opportunity that might otherwise be out of reach. Thank you for supporting the musical growth of our students!

At this time, due to the turnover of different models of Chromebooks, we do not have any loaners. Please do not send students to get a loaner Chromebook at this time.
Additionally, all freshmen and sophomores should have upgraded their Chromebook to the light grey touchscreen with the 65 watt chargers. If you have not done this already, please do so before December. Chromebook style C771 is being disabled. An email went out to approx. 200 students asking them to return their Chromebooks for an upgrade. After December 4th, 2024, these Chromebooks will not work.
