A Walk-A-Thon THANK YOU! from Mr. Nowak
Wow, what an amazing day! Students, staff, administration, parents, family and friends, and community members all came together to make this event the most successful Blaze Walk-a-Thon yet! Over $37,000 was raised to support Physical Education, Health, and Sports at Bateman! While our goal was $50,000, we are truly in awe of the support and donations we received for this event.
Walk-a-Thon day was filled with smiling, cheering, walking, and running. It was truly a sight to see our students motivating each other while being surrounded by the support and encouragement of family, friends, teachers, and volunteers. Your energy was contagious, and we could not have done it without your generous support and presence at the event.
All of our students will receive a few school-wide incentives. Our students will continue to have access to new and improved PE equipment, as well as resources for Health class. Our student-athletes will continue to have opportunities to grow in athletics and represent Bateman in sports programs. We will share our expenditures in the future once all purchases have been made.
A total of 70 students won raffle prizes (to be announced the week of Oct. 14th). Our first grade again won a pizza party for the entire grade level by raising over $5,000! A first grade homeroom won an Italian ice party for receiving the most donations, over $2,200! Please review the information regarding our school-wide incentives:
- Purple Hair Day for Administration took place on Friday, October 4th.
- Extra Recess for every classroom will take place between October 15th-18th.
- Pajama day (PK-4) and Pajama Bottom Day (5th-8th) will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd. Please note, for 5th-8th, it is pajama bottoms only. Students who have PE on Wednesdays will still need appropriate shoes for PE that day per our shoe policy.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who supported this event either by sharing event information, making donations, donating prizes, sorting student shirts, and volunteering on race day. We could not have done it without you! Thank you to this year’s sponsors, which included the Bateman Boosters, Hound Custom Screen Printing, Miko’s Italian Ice, and Something Sweet. A special THANK YOU! to the Bateman Boosters for their help and support throughout the weeks and months leading up to the event. We will continue to work together to improve each year’s event.
I ask that you please consider completing the Walk-a-Thon survey to provide feedback so that we can work towards a bigger, better 2025 Blaze Walk-a-Thon. The survey will remain open through the end of October.
Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, and for supporting Physical Education, Health, and Sports at Bateman.
With gratitude,
Mr. Nowak
