Welcome from Principal Carter
Hellooooooo Parker Family!!!!!!
I hope this message finds you well and that you've enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer. My name is Antravian D. Carter, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Parker Elementary Music Magnet. It is a true privilege to join this vibrant community, and Iβm excited to kick off the 2024-2025 school year with our theme, βChampions of Excellence: Striving for Gold.β
This year, as we embrace our theme, weβll focus on being champions in everything we doβwhether itβs in the classroom, on stage, or within our community. Together, weβll strive for gold, pushing ourselves to achieve new heights in both academics and musical artistry. I look forward to welcoming back our returning families and extending a warm greeting to those joining us for the first time.
Hereβs to a year of excellence and achievement! π

First Day of School (Monday, August 12, 2024)
On the first two days of school, we allow parents to walk their student(s) to their homeroom before class begins. Doors will open for parents entering with student(s) at 7:25 am. Parents must exit the building by 7:40 am. This is completely optional. All students entering without a parent will follow the normal arrival procedures by entering the building as early as 7:10 am to be seated in their assigned waiting area. Please keep in mind that we want to keep a safe and secure environment for our students. Teachers will not be readily available for conversations as students move throughout the hallways. The Parker PTO will be waiting outside to greet parents, with some morning treats, as you exit the building.
Grade Level Entry Points and Rosters:
For your convenience, we have color-coded rosters posted at various locations around the campus. Please look for the colored rosters and corresponding doors for easy access to your grade level teachers:
- PreK, Kinder, PALS, and TREK: Look for the GREEN rosters to locate your student's name and homeroom teacher. Enter the building at Door #3 (front of the building).
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades: Look for the BLUE rosters to locate your studentβs name and homeroom teacher and enter through Door #19 (down the breezeway near the SPARK park).
- Any student not listed on a roster should enter through Door #2 (front of the building) and you will go into the auditorium for further instructions
*For faster entry, please view your student's homeroom teacher on HISD Connect prior to arriving to the campus.
1st Day - No Show Policy βββ
The Houston Independent School District (HISD) considers all students who are not present on the first day of class to be no shows. If a student is not present on the first day of school, they are automatically withdrawn from enrollment. Students on a magnet transfer being withdrawn will release their seat to the next person on the waitlist. Please below for steps to re-enroll:
Zoned Students:
- May be re-enrolled upon first day of attendance
Non-Zoned Students(Magnet Students/Students on any transfer):
- Parent/guardian must submit an appeal via email to SchoolChoice@houstonisd.org with rationale and evidence for absences
- School Choice Department will evaluate the rationale and evidence provided and decide on the reinstatement based on extenuating circumstances.
Please contact Principal Carter via email at antravian.carter@houstonisd.org if your child will be absent for extenuating circumstances on the first day of school. Please note, emailing the principal will not override the district policy.

Mini Band Camp
The Mini Band Camp at Parker Elementary was a fantastic experience for our young musicians, kicking off the school year with creativity and enthusiasm. Over the course of the camp, students honed their musical skills. The camp culminated in a wonderful finale concert, where our talented students showcased their hard work and dedication. Families and friends were treated to an inspiring performance that set the tone for a year of musical achievement and excellence.
