What's Happening
Lower Moreland High School Students Compete at PennDOT Innovation Challenge
A team of talented students from Lower Moreland High School participated in the prestigious statewide innovations challenge sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Anna Akhobadze, Arwa Muneeruddin, Grace Joseph, and Joshua Levinson along with coach Nick Solomon traveled to Harrisburg for the presentation. Their hard work and creative thinking propelled them to become one of the top ten regional winning teams. Unfortunately, they were not selected as the winner this year. Teams were selected from those that won their previous regional competitions.
The highlight of their journey was the opportunity to present their innovative solution to a distinguished panel that included the Pennsylvania State Secretary of Transportation, Mike Carroll, and high-level administrators within PennDOT. The students eloquently showcased their concept, designed to enhance PennDOT's efforts in raising awareness about the critical importance of seat belt safety and fostering positive changes in driver behavior to ultimately improve roadway safety across the state. Their presentation demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges at hand such as which demographics were least likely to wear a seat belt or often overlooked groups like pregnant women.
The judges were thoroughly impressed by the ingenuity and practicality of the team's proposal. Their innovative ideas offered fresh perspectives on how to effectively communicate the significance of buckling up and encourage safer driving habits. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these bright young minds for their outstanding performance and for representing Lower Moreland High School with such distinction in this statewide challenge.
PJAS State Meet
27 (25 presenters, 2 technicians) LMMS and LMHS students attended the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) state conference at Penn State University from 5/18-20. 1,500+ students from across the state of Pennsylvania attended the meet to present their scientific research. Lower Moreland High School had 8 first place winners, and 3 second. This is the final level in the science fair circuit this year.

Students in Mrs. McCaffrey’s class cooked up something special this month—a resort-style omelet and juice bar! From start to finish, students took the lead: planning the menu, shopping for ingredients, prepping the food, and serving up delicious custom omelets and fresh juices. It was a hit! No food went to waste—leftovers were transformed into a tasty frittata the next day. Great job to our chefs!

General News and Announcements
Health Services Reminder
If a student is not feeling well during the school day, they must visit the nurse’s office before being dismissed. This protocol helps us keep track of illnesses and ensures that the students receive proper care and the nurse can assess their condition before leaving school.
Please encourage your child to report to the nurse’s office, where the nurse will assess their condition and determine if it is appropriate to send them home. The nurse will contact a parent/guardian if dismissal is necessary. For additional information please see page 2 of the HS Code of Conduct under Health Services.
Attendance Protocol
All of your attendance reporting needs will be handled by one electronic form that will replace the Blue Card online form and the Yellow Card online form (used at Pine Road). This will also replace the need for a phone call to the attendance line.
Use this form to report your child’s absence. Submitting this form will both report the absence and document it. No follow up Blue card is needed.
Submit this form to sign your child into school late.
Submit this form to sign your child out for an appointment (early dismissal). This form allows you to enter a return to school time if your child will be returning to school.
Please Note:
If you are taking an extended vacation, you will still need to complete the Request for Excusal from Regular School Attendance, familiar to most families as a vacation request form. The form is found on the Virtual Backpack under Forms.
Doctors’ notes still need to be submitted to the school attendance secretary or sent into school.
