School Picture Makeups and Retakes

Picture retakes/makeups will be on Wednesday, November 13.

Any child who did not have a photo taken on October 9 will automatically be included in makeups.

Action item: please complete this form if you would like your child to have their photo retaken.

Flyer promoting Family LIteracy Month Bingo: The number of books in the home correlates significantly with higher reading scores for children. Students who choose what they read and have an informal environment in which to read tend to be more motivated, read more and show greater language and literacy development. Children who are read to at least three times a week by a family member are almost twice as likely to score in the top 25% in reading compared to children who are read to less than 3 times a week.

All students will receive a Family Literacy Month Bingo card in their communication folders today. Instructions, rules of play, and helpful resources are on the front and back of the card.

HYGIENE DRIVE BEGINS AT OAKHURST ON NOVEMBER 11

We'll be collecting these items Monday, November 11-Friday, November 15.

Flier promoting a hygiene drive 11/11 - 11/5 at Oakhurst. Supplies needed are: toothbrush, deoderant, socks, water bottles, soap, tissues, lip balm, and hair ties. These supplies support DEAM. Cardboard boxes will be placed in front of the school building next to the front doors.

Oakhurst families, please complete and submit this food insecurity request form if your student is experiencing food insecurity within the home and is in need of some supplemental weekend snacks.

The Decatur Education Foundation supplies Oakhurst with snack bags for any student in need. This request form will go directly to our school counselor, Ms. King, and she will send home a snack bag with your student every Friday. Please go through each week's snack bag to remove any snack you may not want your child to have due to allergy concerns, etc.

Food Insecurity Request Form

Flyer thanking Decatur Education Foundation for a Teacher Innovation Grant awarded to the Oakhurst Performing Arts Club. The grand will enhance and sustain the program for years to come. In addition to scripts and costumes, we are able to purchase new staging and audio-visual equipment.

CSD Digital Learning Day

Tuesday, November 5, is a remote Digital Learning Day and there will be no in-person school. On Monday, November 4, students will receive a Digital Learning Day choice board with options to engage in standards-based learning for the day. In addition to the choice board, our hope is that families will share their voting experience with their children!

The Oakhurst Game Center is open for checkout/return on Fridays from 8:00 - 8:20am. Please use the kindergarten playground door. You can also use the website to reserve games and they'll be sent home in backpacks on Wednesdays. Click the image for the link.

PTA Movie Night is November 15th from 5-8pm, which is the same night as FAVE's.

Drop your Oakhurst students off at school for movie night on Friday, November 15, 5-8 p.m., while you get a chance to have a fun night out!

All children attending must be current Oakhurst students.
Kids will enjoy pizza, movie & activities with CSD teachers/staff!
$40 per child or $55 per family with more than one child

A few reminders:

You can check out multiple books from the DEI Book Cart at once.
Return books at the next DEI Book Cart event in the coming weeks.
Watch for an automatic due date reminder via email from the new Libib system, used by both the DEI Book Cart and Game Center.

Books should NOT be returned with the child to the Oakhurst library to avoid cataloging issues.
