Gideon Pond News
2024 Edition - Week of March 4-8
Principal's Message
Gideon Pond Families,
Our school thrives when everyone works together – staff, parents, students, and the community. Last month's PBIS school assembly was another example of everyone working together. We celebrated our 'I Love to Read Month' reading success, Black History Month, Students of the Month, and Staff Difference Makers. Students spraying me with silly string to celebrate our reading program was a fun highlight!
Thanks to our staff and families for making these events meaningful. Additional thanks to everyone who learned about Black history. As I mentioned at the meeting, we will continue this important learning all year long.
This week, students come back in-person on Monday, then work remotely on Tuesday. There is no school Wednesday through Friday for parent-teacher conferences.

On Thursday we held out monthly PBIS assembly and celebrated our students who demonstrate exemplary trustworthiness. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our student leaders who are developing strong character.
We also wrapped up I Love to Read Month. At the beginning of the month, Principal Hussein promised she would participate in a silly surprise if enough students turned in their reading bingo cards and activity calendars. The students did their part, and so Principal Hussein did hers as well, and got sprayed with silly string during the assembly! Thank you to all who participated, keep on reading!
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please connect with your child's classroom teacher if you have not yet scheduled a conference. We look forward to welcoming you to conferences!
Students will be off school these days and school will resume on Monday, March 11.
Check the Lost & Found During Conferences
When you come to conferences this week, please take a moment to stop by the Lost & Found, located outside the gym. There are lots of items there, some of which might belong to your student. Please look through the items there and take what belongs to you. All leftover items will be donated. Thank you.
Stock the Staff Lounge for Conferences
The Gideon Pond PTO is a drive to stock the staff lounge with drinks and snacks. If you'd like to participate, you can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4AAEAA29A0FAC52-gideon?useFullSite=true#/. Donations can be dropped off in the office. Thank you for your support!

Meet the Staff
Celebrating Julie Knudsen
This week marked the end of Black History Month and the beginning of Women's History Month. We hope to educate and inspire our students every day, so they understand that history isn't just in the past, but that they are part of creating history every day. If you've been in the building you've seen banners and posters celebrating those leaders who have helped pave the way so that our students might go further than they could ever imagine. Thank you for being involved parents and helping us celebrate these important months.
