Queen of Apostles School
Term 4 Week 4 - Thursday 2 November, 2023
Prayer for All Souls Day
Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your son,
whom you raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope that all our departed
brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen
Staffing
In staffing news, I wish to inform the community that Mrs Maddi Kuhn will be resigning from her position at Queen of Apostles at the end of the year to take up a position teaching Kindy at another Catholic School. Maddi has a passion for Early Childhood Education and couldn’t pass up this opportunity. I know this was a difficult decision for Maddi and one that was not made lightly.
I would also like to inform you that Mrs Ann Fanto will be reducing her days next year and will not be teaching our 3-Year-Old Kindy students in 2024. She will be using these days to spend some precious time with family. Ann will still be our Kindy teacher on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next year.
We are in the process of finding replacements for both positions and I can assure you there were some excellent applicants. Once the process is complete I will let you know.
Wellness Week (6th – 10th November)
Next week is Wellness Week in our school. Wellness Week has become a feature of our termly calendar and one which both the students and staff look forward to. Please see below for details of what is happening next week.
- No Homework – all week
- Sports uniform can be worn (Monday to Thursday)
- Extra 10 minutes of recess on Monday
- Extra 10 minutes of lunch on Tuesday
- Buddy Activity on Wednesday
- Mindfulness Activity on Thursday
- Free Dress Day Friday (no gold coin required)
- Icy poles on Friday
We look forward to a great week together as we prepare for the last few weeks of the school year.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
Next Friday at 11am the SRC will lead us in a Remembrance Day Ceremony in the Undercover Area. Remembrance Day is an important day in our history as we remember those who fought and died for our country. Parents are welcome to attend.
Ninja Playground
Work is almost complete on the Ninja Playground. I get asked everyday by our excited students when they can use it. All being well we will have the grand opening at some stage next week.
Stay tuned!
Annual Community Meeting of School Advisory Council and P&F
The Annual Community Meeting for the School Advisory Council and P&F will be held on Wednesday November 15th in the school library, commencing at 6.00pm. There will be pre meeting drinks and nibbles in the undercover area starting at 5.30pm.
Reasons you should come to the ACM:
- Show your support of the hard-working School Advisory Council and P&F
- There will be a brief review of 2023 School Advisory Council and P&F activities
- Office bearers for the P&F will be elected
- 2024 staffing will be announced. You will find out your child’s year group teacher for 2024
- 2024 school fees will be presented
- Focus areas for 2024 will be shared
- You will be able to mingle with other parents, relax and enjoy a drink and some nibbles
Please consider if you would like to nominate for the P&F. There is 1 position available as our current president, Kath Anthony, is stepping down from her role due to work commitments. I sincerely thank Kath for the time she has spent on the P&F committee and in particular the last two years as president. Kath took over during COVID times and oversaw the transition of the P&F to a committee of the school with a new Terms of Reference. Kath has done an amazing job and will be sorely missed.
We also have one vacancy for the School Advisory Council for 2024.
If there is anyone who wishes to nominate for these vacancies, you will need to complete the appropriate nomination form below and return it to the school office by Friday November 10.
Christmas Concert
This year we are very excited to again be putting on a Christmas Concert for our community. The concert will take place on Thursday 30th November. Each class from Kindy to Year 6 will be involved along with our choirs. The P&F book awards will also be handed out on this evening. We aim to start at 5.30pm and will be finished by 7.30pm. Please keep this date in your dairy as it promises to be a special evening.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
Principal
