Late After Tardy - What is that?
Warrior Families,
The Beaverton School District has just implemented a new attendance code that our teachers have begun using. Previously, there were four attendance codes: AUn is Unexcused Absence, AEx is Excused Absent, UnL is Unexcused Late and ExL is Excused Late. Beginning with the 2nd semester, a new attendance code will be available for teachers, Late After Tardy (LAT). This will be used when students show up to class more than 10 minutes late.
Students who show up late to class have a negative impact on the instruction and learning that happens in the classroom. Teachers spend a great deal of time preparing their instruction and assessment for their students. A majority of the instruction occurs within the first portion of class and then students apply their learning and complete their tasks. This process is disrupted when students are late to classes. We want to partner with you to avoid this with your student and support their learning and success.
The school will continue to run attendance reports every week and families will be notified if their student(s) are not attending classes or showing up to their classes late. Thank you for your help with reiterating the importance of an on-time arrival to classes.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of Aloha High School!
