Update to our Cell Phone/Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) Policy
Our committee work around cell phones and personal electronic devices (PEDs) is moving along! A group of parents, students and staff gathered for 2 meetings (October 2nd and October 8th) to engage in conversations around the use of PEDs in classrooms. Through examining research, soliciting input from neighboring districts and reviewing board policy, the committee work resulted in the creation of policy language and guidance for students and staff. These documents are included here for parent review and input.

Youth Truth Survey Information for Families
Greetings Parents and Guardians!
Newberg High School is asking for your participation in this year's Youth Truth survey. We value parent and guardian perspectives and know that stakeholder feedback can have a positive impact not only on the climate and culture of our school but also on a range of elements related to student achievement, including attendance, discipline and social/emotional learning.
How is the data used? Last year proved fruitful in conducting data dives with staff to assess the perceptions of families and students. While we made significant gains in some areas, we still have much work to be done. Our percent changes by category are included below:
Staff reviewed this data in April 2024 and again on October 2, 2024 to discuss student and family perceptions and identify areas for improvement. Themes for students focused on School Culture and College & Career Readiness. Themes for families included Academic Engagement, Culture and Safety.
Again, we would be so thankful for your participation in THIS year’s Youth Truth survey. Please take a moment to complete the family survey before it closes at midnight on November 22, 2024 by clicking this link: ytsurvey.org/newbergfamily24.
Here are some important things to note when taking the survey:
The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
We sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. It is our desire to use this data to implement positive changes where needed and celebrate our identified successes.

After school support sessions will run from 3:15pm - 4:15pm, Tuesday through Thursday (each core content area will offer sessions). Canned Food Drive

The collection bins are located outside of Tigers Den in the Main Commons, so make sure to put them in your grade level's bin! Class points will be given to the grade will the most cans. Together, let's have some fun and do our part to help collect canned food to help those in need! All food collected will be donated to local charities and organizations that help provide people in our community with access to food. Let's do this, Newberg Nation!!!!!!

Back by popular demand, the Party Potty has returned!
Have you met "Bert Flusher" yet? Has he visited your yard?
What is the party potty? It is a one of a kind yard ornament that is delivered to our Newberg Nation families yards!
How does it work? Bert will be making cameo appearances in our Newberg Nation yards, and when you or someone you know receives "Bert, the Party Potty" they have the opportunity to send him on to another yard. Our goal is that Bert visits every seniors house throughout the school year!
Never want Bert to show up at your house? No problem..."The Plumbers" (the masterminds behind this fun) have created an insurance plan. Support Grad Night through a Yard Insurance donation and Bert will never visit your home.
Want to know what Bert is up to? Awesome....because Bert has an Instagram page. Follow him at https://www.instagram.com/bert_the_potty_party/

SAFE Oregon Tip Line
Many districts across the State have adopted SAFE Oregon as their primary tip line. This summer, the Newberg School District has made it the primary source for reporting any issues that need the attention of the school. Tips can be sent by phone, text, via the web or through an app. At the high school, students have received this information in their class assemblies and school-wide safety videos. Encourage your student to download the app and/or put the number into their phone. If you would like more information regarding the tip line, please visit SAFEOregon.com.
