The Weekly Update #4

National CTE Month- February is designated to raise awareness of the role that CTE has in readying learners for college and career success. CTE Month is also a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our CTE partners at the local, state and national level. CTE Month is supported by a variety of CTE groups and organized by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). Learn more here!

Advisory and Next Step Planning- Secondary students across the district are participating in New Mexico's Next Step Planning process by choosing courses for the next academic school year. Throughout this process, counselors and school staff have discussed course offerings and utilized Xello career exploration tools to help students request courses that fit best with the post-secondary endeavors. Parents are encouraged to attend the district's Advisory day, set to take place on February 13th and 14th. Each parent and student will have to opportunity to visit with his/her counselor to ensure the best possible fit for next year's courses.

GISD would like to wish good luck to all students participating in the state CTSO competitions this month.

The GHS FCCLA chapter proudly represented our school at Regional competitions held at DACC East Campus in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Competing against schools from across the southern region, including Chaparral, Centennial, Organ Mountain, Silver City, and many more, our students truly shined.

We had 25 competitors, and of those, an incredible 23 have officially qualified to advance to State in February!
