Board Briefs are published to keep staff and citizens informed about actions of the Judson Independent School District Board of Trustees during the regular board meeting. The agenda was appropriately posted along with supporting documents. All documents can be viewed in Boardbook.
Pledge Leader and Presentation of Colors ๐ซ
The April Pledge Leader was Ellyannah Toms. Ellyannah is a student from Masters Elementary.Ellyannah is a hard-working student who has received the A/AB Honor Roll, Good Citizen, and Friendship certificates this school year. She has also led the pledges throughout the school year. Ellyannah and a friend have organized and made positive posters to post throughout the school. She has also worked in the library before school to shelf books. Ellyannah is a part of Music Memory and Choir. Ellyannah keeps busy outside of school by volunteering to keep Randolph Beautiful. Ellyannah also has been in Archery in the community. Ellyannah is a very curious young lady who loves to do arts and crafts and loves Science. In the future, Ellyannah aspires to be a baker.
The Wagner High School JROTC, the Patriot Battalion JROTC is led by Chief Michael Good and Msg Joseph Dudley . This nationally awarded Color Guard team was commanded by: Cadet SGT Noah Perez, Cadet Captain Cayden Fisher, Cadet SGT Nicholas Brinegar, and Cadet SGT Branden Dominguez.

B. Consider and take action regarding approving monthly financial statements as of March 31, 2024 (item pulled by Trustee Ryan)- clarifications discussed regarding the 3rd QTR report in comparison to last year's 3rd QTR report; motion passed 7-0
C. Consider and take action regarding approving Cash Investment Report for all Funds as of March 31, 2024 (item pulled by Trustee Ryan)- discussed General Fund interest; motion passed 7-0
G. Consider and take action regarding the ranking of submittal for Request for Proposal 23-23 STEM Lab for Kirby Middle School-(item pulled by Trustee Macias)- Kirby STEM Academy- this lab is for 6th grade- the first grade level to move into the STEM Academy- would like to see if success will be seen or replicated as the JSTEM in JMS; clarifications regarding the funding source (Title IV) to purchase lab- have not received the 1million from the grant yet and there is a need to equip the school for the new school year; motion passed 6-1
H. Consider and take action regarding approving the ranking for Request for Proposal 23-24 Instructional Leadership Professional Development- (item pulled by Trustee Ryan)- clarifications were made regarding the number of proposals and not selecting any from the 5 with the lowest bid; campuses are already using Relay and would fit the instructional model; the choice is the best value and would improve models and instruction; motion passed 6-1
P. Consider and take action regarding approving the Staffing Report- (item pulled by Trustee Macias)- clarifications were made regarding what vacancies are included in the report; motion passed 7-0
A. Consider and take action regarding approving Board Minutes from the Special Meetings held on April 4, and April 23 - This item was removed from the agenda
E. Consider and take action regarding approving Expenditures Equal to or Greater than $50,000- This item was removed from the agenda

A. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the proposed subdivision plat establishing Elementary School #21, located at Retama Parkway in Bexar County- motion passed 6-0
B. Discussion and take possible action regarding approval of a resolution to reallocate funds from Bond 2016 Prop 1 to Bond 2022 Prop A. motion passed 6-0
C. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of corrections to 500 series employee pay for new hires from July 2022 to present and the timeline and implementation plan for new HR Rubric- implementation of rubric was already previously approved; motion to not approve corrections to 500 series from July 2022 to present (item submitted by Trustee Ryan)- motion passed 6-0
D. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of potential cost reductions to the districtโs local budget- As listed by Ms. Faulkner: Recommend to remove the following stipends- health Facilitator, webmaster, wagner feeder pattern, distinguished educator, CTC, JETIS, Lead Librarian; Restructure Adventure Club staffing model, sunset Communities in Schools, reallocate AET teacher funding to a different funding source; each campus will keep an allocation for a Librarian position; campuses receive additional allocations for rotation teachers based on enrollment numbers- the type of teacher or rotation subject is a campus decision; more discussion will be had in future budget workshops- motion passed 6-0
E. Discussion and take possible action regarding approving the selection of the electrical contractor for services related for the replacement to the damaged transformer busways located at Wagner High School- motion passed 6-0

- Teachers, Nurses, Librarians, Counselors and Bus Drivers will receive a step increase for years experience
- Adjustments to the non-step pay grade schedules as recommended by the TASB Pay Study Audit are accepted
- No reclassifications that were recommended by Moss Adams Staffing Audit, TASB Pay Study Audit and Administration Recommendations will be taken
- No general pay increase/raise for 2024-2025
