Students, please remember that cell phones should not be used during class time, as we want everyone fully engaged in learning. Teachers, thank you for consistently enforcing our policy—if a student is caught using their phone after a warning, it will be placed in a pouch to avoid distractions. Let’s work together to keep our classrooms focused and productive!

Tardy sweeps are conducted daily to ensure all students arrive on time. We encourage everyone to be in class promptly, as being on time is crucial for maximizing learning and success. Arriving on time shows responsibility and ensures you don’t miss valuable instructional time. Let’s make punctuality a priority!
Titans, remember that our Culture of Care extends to what we post on social media. Think before you post—avoid sharing anything inappropriate or hurtful, as conflicts often start online. Let’s keep our community positive, respectful, and supportive both in person and online!

October is National Dropout Prevention Month!
Did you know that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve academically and stay in school. Students who are on-track academically and have regular attendance in 9th grade, have 94% on-time graduation rate. However, students that are on-track academically but are chronically absent, have 80% on-time graduation rate.
Every day is an opportunity to learn and connect!
STAFF: INSTRUCTIONAL MOMENT
PDSA Cycle #1
Roybal's Problem of Practice:
Roybal students are not afforded consistent opportunities to engage in structured, intellectually rigorous discussions with peers, texts, and teachers. In addition, writing is not systematically integrated across the curriculum to reinforce and deepen these discussions. As a result, our students’ writing ability and higher-level academic discourse is limited.
Theory of Action:
IF:
- Admin provides ongoing actionable feedback in alignment to TLF Focus Elements 3b1 and 3b2 to all teachers,
- The ILT team provides tiered professional learning opportunities and support, and
- Teachers provide students with ongoing, consistent, and strategic opportunities to engage in quick-write content learning or formal writing tasks, and
- Teachers implement WASC instructional strategies daily to engage in peer-to-peer discussions
- The school adopts one universal writing practice/strategy
THEN:
Students will be able to engage in structured and intellectually challenging discourse and purposeful writing across the curriculum, which will strengthen their ability to critically analyze texts and articulate their understanding across disciplines.
Exciting News! Scholastics Book Fair Coming to Roybal Library!
Mark your calendars! The Scholastic Book Fair is arriving at Roybal from October 14-18 and will be open all day. Be sure to stop by, explore the amazing selection of books, and find something fun to read. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to support literacy and add to your home library!
