Note from the Principal - Learning Intentions and Success Criteria
When introducing new content or reviewing previously taught material, our teachers focus a great deal on the "why" are we learning this. It is incredibly important for our students to understand why a certain standard or concept is important and how they will use them as they become older. When each standard is introduced, our teachers communicate the "Learning Intention", which is what we are learning for the day and why it is important. Students are also shown "Success Criteria"' which is how the learning will be demonstrated successfully. We have committed to ensure this practice is adhered to with fidelity. When asking your students about school, ask them about Learning Intentions and Success Criteria as I am sure they would love to use that academic language at home in order to demonstrate what they are learning.

Note from the PTA - Fundraiser Update & Volunteer Requests
Hello Otter Families!
We raised just over $18,500 in this year's fundraiser! While we didn't quite hit our goal, we've decided to move forward with the staff and student favorite - the dunk tank! We will have our final celebration with ice cream sandwiches and the dunk tank during lunch recesses on Thursday, October 10th.
Congratulations also to Ms. Tate's 5th grade class and Ms. Cruz's 4th grade class for being the top classes in each grade! These classes will celebrate with a donut party on Friday, October 4th.
Move-A-Thon t-shirts will be distributed next week. Please be sure your student wears their shirt for the final celebration on October 10th!
We could use some help next week to make the dunk tank celebration a success. Please consider signing up to help sort the t-shirts on Monday, 10/7, and/or on Thursday 10/10. The respective links for these sign ups are below, or navigate to our PTA website in the volunteer section: https://saltarspta.givebacks.com/w/volunteers
