HAPPY NEW YEAR!
WELCOME TO 2025!
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas full of fun, family, food and relaxation. I want to welcome all of our staff and students back to school this week. Our teachers will return on Tuesday, January 7. Students will return on Thursday, January 9.
New Year's resolutions are common a ritual at the beginning of each year. I hope you set your mind to setting New Year's goals and resolve to stay committed to those goals year-round. If you want to improve your ACT score, commit to doing an ACT practice question every day. Or, study test taking tips or watch YouTube videos (like the one posted below) to learn how to master the test. If you want to be a better athlete, commit to working one hour a day on your on with focus and intentional and intense training. You will be amazed at the results!
My goals for our school is to improve our academic achievement scores on the ACAP and ACT and continue our 100 percent growth. We have come so far in the year and half we've been together and there is so much more we can accomplish together. We just have to commit to each other and to ourselves that we are going to get it done no matter what!
I also want our Seniors to enjoy their remaining time together. At the beginning of the year, time was measured in months, now it is in weeks. Very soon, it will be days and hours and time for graduation!
Winter Weather Threat- As you may know, there is a threat of Winter weather this weekend. I know everyone is excited for potential snow. Well, not everyone! Whether it snows or not, it is and will be dangerously cold for several days. Please understand any decisions made by the Superintendent regarding any potential closures are not made lightly and are made based on advice from local EMA and based on road conditions on on lightly traveled roads as well as main highways. Like severe weather threats, the decisions are not easy. For any news on potential closures, please pay attention to local news, our schools Facebook page, email and other reliable sources.
Basketball- Our basketball teams had a busy holiday hoops schedule. I hope I don't miss anything but here it goes: our varsity girls beat Shoals Christian, Carbon Hill and Addison before Christmas and Brewer after Christmas. Our varsity boys beat Shoals Christian before Christmas and Covenant Christian after Christmas.
Moving On Up: Congratulations to Bradley McDaniel and Brittney Coffman on continuing their volleyball career and education at Northwest Shoals Community College. They will be Phil Campbell's first volleyball players to play at the collegiate level in the short history of the program. The addition of volleyball, the fastest growing girls sport in Alabama, just four years ago has already produced college level opportunities for two of our female student-athletes, with more to come!
Honors: Three of our football players, Hayden Wingo, Hayston Scott and Mason Weeks were named to the Times Daily Small School All-Area team. Wingo and Scott were first team selections. Weeks was Honorable Mention.
Have A Great New Year!

Success Is Like An Iceberg
New Year's Resolutions are useless without dedication and commitment and a genuine desire to succeed. In 2025, as a school we will focus on the unseen part of the iceberg to become better.
Better leaders, better students, and better people.
