Welcome to our latest school newsletter
Dear Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. We have had a busy and exciting fortnight at Bourchier, and I am thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Firstly, a massive thank you to all the families who helped fundraise for our recent fun run. We raised over $17,000! It was an incredible event, and everyone did a fantastic job giving it a red hot go. Your support means the world to us.
In celebration of Mother's Day, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the Bourchier Mums. Personally, I am deeply grateful for my own Mum and want to recognise all the amazing mothers in our community who play such a vital role in our lives.
We also held our Do it for Dolly Day, emphasising the importance of kindness in our daily lives. It was a meaningful day, and I am proud of how our students embraced the message of kindness.
We were fortunate to have a visit from Davidson, an artist who conducted spray paint workshops with our senior students. They had a blast and created some truly impressive artworks. Davidson also painted one of our containers near the basketball court, which looks incredible! He will return in a few weeks to paint another container, and we can’t wait to see his next masterpiece.
Exciting news: our students have produced the early episodes of their very own podcast! Stay tuned for its release on Apple and Spotify podcasts. It’s wonderful to see our students engaging in such creative projects.
On the topic of podcasts, one of our teachers, Todd Broadbent, interviewed one of our important learning partners, Andrea Hillbrick. Andrea works with our school regularly, guiding our teachers with innovative and engaging literacy and numeracy ideas. You can listen to Todd's interview with Andrea here: Toddcast Teacher Podcast: Episode 59 – Andrea Hillbrick on Apple Podcasts
There has been heaps of learning and fun happening here at Bourchier, much of which is showcased on Seesaw. Be sure to check out your child’s Seesaw journal to see all that is happening in the classroom.
As always, we value your feedback and ideas about how we can continue to make Bourchier an awesome place to be. Please feel free to reach out.
Warm regards,
Gary D'Arma
SCHOOL TOURS OPEN FOR OUR 2025 FOUNDATION FAMILES
MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST
It was wonderful to see so many Mothers/Special People join us for a croissant and coffee last Friday. We hope you all had a special day on Sunday and were spoilt!! We would be lost without our parents/carers and thank you all for being so supportive and watching over our students.
FOUNDATION VISIT KY FAUNA PARK
Last Thursday the Foundation students went to the Kyabram Fauna Park.
It was a wonderful and fantastic day considering the weather wasn’t amazing. Throughout the day we saw various animals and birds. The reptiles were a crowd favourite for most of the students.
Also, throughout the day the students also got to complete an educational session at the zoo. This session was all about lifecycles and habitats – it was so interesting and engaging.
Throughout the rest of the term, we are going to be using what we learnt at the Fauna Park in our lessons.
YEAR 6 PAINTING WORKSHOP
Some awesome snaps from the spray painting workshops yesterday with some of our senior school students. Thanks to the team at Bulatemporaria for teaching our students how to express themselves artistically.
Check out the artwork of the Eagle on our new shipping container below.
YEAR 6 WALK MT. MAJOR!
On Tuesday our Year Six students walked up Mount Major. The weather was perfect for their excursion and a highlight was the fantastic view at the top of the mountain. They enjoyed their time out of the classroom and spending time with nature and their friends!
MR. POOLES PUPPIES VISIT BOURCHIER!
Who doesn't love little puppies! There was great excitment when Mr. Poole bought 9 little Jack Russell puppies into the classrooms! The pups certainly put a smile on many of our students faces who were happy to have plenty of cuddles.
Free School Dental Service - DATE CHANGE
Due to unforeseen circumstances the school dental van had to postpone coming to our school until the 3rd-7th of June 2024.
Australian Dental Health NSW is visiting our school in Term 2. The initiative provides Dental Health Screens, checkups, cleans, and preventative and restorative care (fillings) at school.
The Dental Service is self-funded by Australian Dental Health NSW and the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). Our students can therefore receive dental coverage by Medicare and Free Dental Health Checks.
Every student will be handed a dental form, please complete and return it to school. Our front office will also have spare forms if yours has been misplaced.
Join us in taking a proactive approach to our student's health and well-being.
