REMINDERS AND UPDATES FROM MRS. WOODALL
Trailblazers,
Next week is already the final week of the 2nd six week grading period. I encourage all families to check grades in Skyward. Learners need to connect with their designers regarding any concerns they might have. Open communication is vital to ensuring our learners finish this period strong and ready to move forward.
Next week is also Red Ribbon Week. This is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to unite in promoting a drug-free lifestyle. We invite all learners to participate in our themed dress-up days, showcasing their commitment to healthy choices.
Additionally, please consider supporting our school library through our ongoing fundraiser; you can find the list of requested books here.
I can't wait to see all our goblins at the Monster Mash, happening tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the school. It’s a great chance for our learners to enjoy some festive fun with friends. Thank you for your continued support!
Help the Class of 2028 start raising money for prom! Deadline to order cookie dough is December 15th.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
9-12th grade students: Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 25,000 ninth through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.
The national first place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1,000-$21,000, and the first place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins at least a scholarship of $1,000. Before submitting your essay, download the 2024-2025 entry form here and find your sponsoring local VFW Post as applications must be turned in by midnight, Oct. 31.
Seniors: The Burger King Scholarship is now open. Consideration will be given to each applicant's academic record (33%), participation in school/community activities and work experience (33%), and financial need (33%). Applications must be received electronically on or before December 16, 2024. If 50,000 applications are received before December 16, the application will no longer be available.
Seniors: The Science Ambassador Scholarship for undergraduate women and non-binary students in science, technology, engineering, or math is accepting applications. Submissions are a three–minute educational video of yourself explaining a STEM topic you're passionate about. Deadline: December 16
Seniors: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is scheduled to open December 1st. In Texas, seniors are required to complete the FAFSA or formally opt-out to graduate. If you are planning to attend college, you should complete the FAFSA. Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for “free” money, many colleges require the FAFSA to be completed and use it when considering students for scholarships. Before it opens you will need to create a FSA ID. Link to Preparing for the FAFSA 2024
Seniors: UT Arlington offers the Terry Foundation Scholarship. This is a MASSIVE financial award and is worth checking out.
