Senior Awards
This year's Senior Awards will now be held online so Big Spring can still celebrate senior's accomplishments even through social distancing. This year's ceremony will be on June 3rd, starts at 7:00 pm and will be presented by Mr. August himself. The link will be available on the high school district website. Everyone is welcome to join and watch the presentation honoring the senior's hard work.
Senior Parade
To celebrate Big Springs graduating class of 2020 seniors will be parading around Newville to recognize their graduation. The parade will be held on June 5th and community members are encouraged to come but this event will also be live streamed for viewers at home. If you wish to attend as a viewer we ask that you properly social distance, wear masks, and respect property owners. To the seniors planning to participate please either drive yourself or have a parent drive. The parade will be single file and have a slow pace but there will be no stopping. Decorating your car is encouraged (as long as it is school appropriate) and please wear your cap and gowns. The parade route will start at the Newville Fairgrounds. It will then continue to 533 East to Broad Street to Springfield Ave. to Walnut Street to Big Spring Ave. to South Corporation Street to East Main Street to Mt. Rock Road and will end at Big Spring High School. Seniors wishing to participate in the parade should arrive between 5:30 pm and 6:45 pm. The parade will then start at 7:00 pm. Please help Big Spring celebrate it’s 2020 graduates by coming to the parade. We hope to see you there!
Graduation
While graduation might be different than years past, the experience of walking across the stage and accepting their diploma will be the same. The date for the June graduation is just one day and will be on June 16th with a rain date of June 17th. Seniors will be assigned into groups of ten and will have the opportunity to select one student to be in the same group of ten in an email recently sent out. Seniors will receive their diploma, other paperwork, cords, and honor sashes at this event. At the stadium seniors will be filmed as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma and the film will be given to families for free for those who are unable to attend. In an exciting update two parents/guardians will be able to attend the June graduation. The graduation ceremony in August will be on August 7th with a rain date of August 8th. Please look out for emails regarding both the June and August graduations.
Senior Obligations
Senior obligations will be able to be dropped off on June 2nd, 4th, 9th, and 11th. When dropping off the obligations please make sure you have exact change, check, or items. Obligations can also be dropped off at graduation on June 16th.
Post Grad Party
Unfortunately this year's Post Grad Party has been canceled. Seniors will be given a gift basket at graduation as congratulations for graduating and will no longer be doing t-shirts because of this. The Post Grad Committee will support the Senior Officers in any event they might plan for later this summer.
