It’s hard to believe that the first week of school is in the proverbial books. I’ve waited all summer for the students to return and it’s wonderful to see their smiling faces and hear their voices in the hallways and cafeteria again. The building was just too quiet without them over the summer. Thank you for entrusting your child(ren) to us this school year.

As we begin this new academic year, I wanted to share with you what our focus is this year - strengthening our reading. Our theme for the year, Onward and Upward . . . One Step at a Time . . . One Student at a Time, speaks to that focus. We’ve got some upward climbing to do in our reading proficiency but this is our reminder that we must keep moving onward one step at a time, one student at a time.

I’m excited for the promise this year brings. While there are several new faces at Brier Creek, there is also positive buzz in the building coupled with a passion for reaching students and closing gaps. And, as usual, in the first week of school, there are small bumps that we need to work through. I ask that you be patient with us as we work to eliminate those bumps.

The week of September 9th, we will begin our Pepsi fundraiser selling cases of Pepsi products. Students will bring home order forms to take orders for cases of 16 ounce bottled Pepsi products for a discounted price. Money raised from the fundraiser will benefit the school. You may remember the school doing a Pepsi fundraiser this past spring.
