Indian Education Update
2024-2025 School Year
Title VI and Johnson O'Malley Program Updates
Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year! Our staff would like to wish each of you a successful school year. Our Title VI and Johnson O'Malley programs continue to grow each year with over fifty-nine tribes represented in our school district. The majority of our students are from tribes in Oklahoma, however students from Alaska, Arizona, California, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, and North Dakota are represented as well.
Parents are to be reminded to check your emails from our Indian Education program. Program updates will include upcoming events, activities and services that will be scheduled throughout the school year. Student information may need to be updated such as address, email or phone contact through your school sites.
You may also go to our Indian Education department page under the EPS website and see additional information such as the program guide, and links to our resources on tribes, college and career and cultural videos.

Middle School Teacher Susan Sheldon
Hello, I am Susan Sheldon the Indian Education Middle School Teacher. This is my third year in this role, and I am excited for the 24-25 school year. My goal is to support our middle school students with their transitions from elementary and into high school. We provide a bi-monthly afterschool program, advisory meetings, field trips, cultural opportunities, and our UCO 8th grade college visit, Broncho Bound. A fun fact about me: I was an Orvis Risner Eagle, a Cimarron Panther, and a Memorial Bulldog!
I look forward to working with our middle school students and families!

High School Teacher Courtney Tsotigh-Yarholar
Indian Education High School meetings, events, and college exploration opportunities are in full swing. We kicked off the semester taking a group of juniors and seniors to the Citizen Potawatomi College and Career Fair in Shawnee, OK. Following this great event, high school meetings were held at each high school. We had over 200 students in total attendance at three high school meetings. Students are encouraged to stay updated by checking their emails regularly. I'm looking forward to the upcoming school year and wish all of our students a great year; make every day count!
